We are back. We are swooning. We are Broken.

There are a lot of stories out there that I am obsessed with. The characters are so amazing that I feel like I know these people. I care about these characters. This series is definitely one of those for me. Broken is the second book in the Her Reverse Genus series by Adell Ryan. The first book is called Perfect (find the review here!) and I love it so much. It’s a book I can just go back and re-read over and over and over. I will also be doing this with this amazing sequel. When I saw the title for this book my immediate thoughts were OMG WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ADELL?! Broken?! Please don’t destroy my loves. Please….

IF YOU HAVEN’T READ BOOK #1 IT IS ON SALE FOR $0.99!!!

I was one of the lucky ones that got to beta read this book. Talk about fangirling all over the fucking place. I remember the exact moment I was asked to be a Beta. I was in the car on my way to a wedding in Kentucky and I received the message. Cue fangirl screaming and giggling uncontrollably. You would think I was a young girl talking to her first crush. So freaking stoked.

I started the book and immediately began falling in love again. All these characters are so well written that I feel like they are friends. It’s like coming back to Hogwarts, you know it’s home. Plus, I was immediately in full swoon mode over Jax. That man… Whew. He’s mine ladies….BACK OFF 😉 & Tobias… Gah he is so swoony. Strong silent types man. I love em. Then Bram with their friendship/blooming love. Last but not least our sexy italian man, Julian. Back with Thess and the guys and back in love.

Thess is completely distressed over the events from the end of the last book. Her dad had been attacked and was badly hurt, possibly dead, and her mother was missing. She has come out of her depression phase thanks to Tobias and his errr magical fingers. #Swoon She realizes that the guys were really worried about her and she isn’t going to accomplish anything by moping around. She has had her time to cope, it’s time to be kickass Thess again. Her and the guys just have to come up with a plan and put it into action. The evil Zinna has framed Thess for the attack on her father and has an alert out for her making it almost impossible for her to be seen in public.

Another situation that Thess is trying to figure out is her relationship with the guys. She still isn’t totally sure how this whole thing is going to work with her and 3 guys. Aren’t they going to get jealous? How is she going to juggle them all? How can she deal with experiencing such happy things as her relationship with each of them develops when so much bad is happening in her life? Although the last book is truly a ‘medium burn’ there isn’t much sexy time for Thess and the guys. The relationship building in Perfect is amazing. Seriously great. I am totally in love with these guys and now I’m ready to get to the business. Be in love with them Thess! LET’S GET IT ON! Well, you’ll be happy to hear that shit really heats up in Broken. Like almost immediately we are in full swoon mode with some SUPER sexy scenes. What else does this mean?! MORE relationship development between Thess and the guys! We get to learn more about their stories and how they came to be on the run. We get to fall in love with the guys with Thess. I love this about the series. The love doesn’t feel like insta-love. Granted the time frame isn’t incredibly long but we don’t go from ‘hi what’s your name?’ to ‘You are the love of my life I will die without you’. There is a more natural buildup in the relationships and it’s amazing.

Another element of the first book we get to explore at a deeper level is the government and their involvement in their blood draw/DNA study. We’ve seen that the people doing this aren’t afraid to snatch people out of their homes, force them to participate in the blood draw, and even use violence to influence rule breakers to comply. Something you wouldn’t expect from those who have been entrusted to protect us. We get to see a lot more of this in the capture and kidnapping of Thess’s mother as well as NABs continuation of seeking Thess and vilifying her. Plus a lot more stuff that I wouldn’t want to spoil for you. But it’s good. & horrifying. & will be sure to piss you off…

Perfect was amazing. Really and truly amazing. Broken? Even freaking better. Out of the two Broken is definitely my favorite. I seriously can’t wait for the 3rd book and I will be tirelessly stalking Adell Ryan until she releases it. All the characters are so amazingly in-depth and the story/world building is so perfect that I have been dealing with serious book hangover since I finished it. I spent my time swooning, giggling like a school girl, laughing out loud, and wanting to scream and cry. The story is so immersive you can’t help but become emotionally attached. This is a definite must read. It’s made for contemporary romance lovers. It’s made for sci-fi/paranormal romance lovers. Honestly, amazingly written stories are made for everyone. Now leave me alone so I can get back to swooning over Jax ❤

Keep swooning dolls! 😘

Super stoked to be supernatural. Dannan.

My biggest goal for myself right now is to just go through my current TBR list and read those books. Goal seems like too strong a word. Like if I succeed I’m accomplishing something great when all I’m doing is showing minor restraint that most people have. I have a problem where I continually buy new books (a ‘problem’ I’m not planning to stop) or I skim through Kindle Unlimited and/or Audible Romance Package looking for my next read/listen when I have a TON of books that I’ve already bought, borrowed, or won. I mean a TON. I know they all won’t be amazing but I have A LOT that I know will be. This is one. I knew it’d be good. I’ve read the first two books in the series already and loved them. I think I mostly didn’t want to start because I knew once I did it’d be over. Well I started and it’s over. Now back to stalking her Facebook page for the next book in the series…

If you are like me you finished Supay and Leyak and you were ready for some more adventures and sexy times with Riley. Then you see book #3 and you are like who the eff is Jen?! Roan?! Alexander?! WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! I WANT RILEY! I WANT ELIAS! I WANT ANTHONY! I WANT AXO! I don’t know why. I always do this.. I have read several series where they switch up characters between books and I always love it. I start off thinking I don’t get a crap about them and end in loving them. No difference here. I don’t know why I continue to surprise myself with this shit. Plus it’s L A Boruff so I knew it’d be good.

Well Jen is Riley’s cousin, see the connection… Riley isn’t gone 😊 Jen is also completely human. Or so she thinks.*Insert evil laugh* When Riley went into the portal to the land of the Sarkany she set something into action. Apparently when she did this it activated the Sarkany gene in Jen and potentially other members of Riley’s family. Jen is walking down the courthouse steps when her life changed forever. How awesome to have such an earth shattering moment. I can only imagine mine would be so much duller since I’m not a fictional character. Julia was sitting in her recliner eating cheesecake when her life changed forever. Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. Well Jen’s walk turns into a fall and right before she hits the ground… she doesn’t. She is frozen mid-air and has sprouted purple scales and wings.

Unlike a lot of stories where something like this happens to the main character she isn’t completely terrified. At first she is very skeptical. She just thinks that some crowd magician has tricked her. That this is all a stunt. Then after she is approached by a strange man who is angered by her scaly appearance she realizes this isn’t a stunt. Something about her has changed and she has no control of it. Sure she is freaked out that she can’t change herself back but overall she is pretty stoked. She has become a supernatural creature just like from her books! This would be me. Like if I’m walking down the street and I see a vampire, I’m probably begging him to turn me. I would totally be like OMG THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! TAKE ME EDWARD!

The strange man that is angered by Jen’s scaly appearance. His name is Roan. He is Dannan (#booktitle) or fae. He is also part of the Unseen government that we have seen in Supay and Leyak. He thinks that Jen is breaking the law by showing herself to the humans. That is until he realizes she has no idea what the fuck is going on. He is able to get her away from the public eye and help her shift back. So not only has Jen changed into a dragon shifter but she also now has the help of a very sexy fairy. I’m telling you. This is the shit I dream about. Don’t lie. We are all dreaming about it. She gets the sexy stranger’s number and heads back home to decompress after a very weird and stressful day. I decide that I am really going to like Jen when she does this in the bath with a vanilla scented bath bomb. #soulsisters There is nothing I love more than the bath.. If you are a #juliaswooner then you already know this 😁

Soooo now that Jen has met the sexy Roan we are all geared up for some sexy times. Especially since he is at her apartment the next morning. Bow chicka wow wow. Much to my dismay he is not there for sexy times. No, he and a bunch of goons snatch Jen up and teleport her to a cell. What. The. Fuck. Apparently Jen has broken an Unseen law by showing herself and head of the Unseen government, Alexander, is not buying that she was oblivious to her abilities. She is locked up in a room and left for a days by herself. She is brought food and left to relieve herself in a bucket. How the fuck am I supposed to fall in love with these guys when they are doing this to my girl. I just determined we were soul sisters! This isn’t how our paranormal experience is supposed to go! She is met with disbelief until they find her connection to the Unseen world. Riley.

After discovering that Jen is hiding nothing she is moved to Alexander’s home. He fills her in on the Unseen and the danger the Leyak (shapeshifters) are presenting to the Sarkany. He moves from captor to protector and allows Jen to stay with him to stay safe. Jen has lived her life and knows that the only person she can count on is herself but the more time she spends with Alexander and Roan the more she begins to trust them. She isn’t completely ready to give up her old life but understands that she has to take precautions now that everything has changed. One thing she gets to keep from her old life is Riley. Jen’s transformation to Sarkany creates the opportunity for Jen and Riley to reconnect. Now that Jen is ‘in the know’ Riley is able to fill her in on how much her life has changed, Michael’s death, as well as her newborn twins. She also gets to see Riley’s new lifestyle with 3 men.

Like mostly everyone Jen always thought that she would have a monogamous relationship. She hadn’t found the one yet but never thought that it would be more than one. Alexander and Roan approach Jen with the idea of being in a relationship with both of them. It isn’t unheard of in the Unseen world and as both men lead very busy lives it just makes sense. Jen is attracted to both men but isn’t totally sold on the idea. That is until she meets Doryu, a Sarkany man that Alexander brings in to teach her a bit about her people. She finds herself just as attracted to Doryu as she is to Roan and Alexander and begins exploring the idea of having a polygamous relationship. Who wouldn’t when surrounded by such sexy men?! Plus a girl has needs ya know… Why not fulfill them with these guys she has at her disposal…

I loved this book a lot. Jen is awesome. I love having a chubby main character that can think for herself and isn’t content just sitting around. Jen is thrown into the Unseen world and wants to help people that could potentially be experiencing exactly what she had. The men she has are completely swoonworthy. Like really. I just want to pull Doryu straight out of the pages and marry him. L A Boruff has such a way of writing that I am able to fall madly in love with whatever character she creates. & the sex scenes. Soooo steamy. The book ends with me beginning for more and ready to flip back to page one and restart. I swear you’ll want to too. Now come on. Swoon with me ❤

How do you find books & Julia Swoons is a Book Whore

I feel like everytime I finish a book series and go through the inevitable book hangover I have trouble figuring out what to read next. I always have a huuuuge list of book in my Kindle library and TBR list but I always think in my head, ‘God, nothing is EVER going to be that good.” Then I inevitably find another AMAZING book. There are just some really awesome ones out there. It’s made me question myself… Am I a book whore? OR am I just really good at finding good books?!

book feels.gif

When I am looking for the next AMAZING book to read I feel like I need to go to my favorite Facebook groups and make a post so I can get the scoop on the current HOTTEST books out there. As you have probably can tell I am really into fast burns. I do have quite a few medium burns I love but most of the time I’m like ‘HEY! LET’S GET TO THE BUSINESS!’ It’s why I had to get out of the YA book game. I would read and read these amazing books but still feel like well that was good and all but I really wanted more love. I want books to be 90% swoon and 10% story/action. Books like Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, Premontion series, etc are AMAZING books. Seriously, I love these freaking books but I always felt they were tame. There were plenty of parts where I’m creepily giggling at my desk at work and biting my lip like I’m the adorable MC but I still felt like I couldn’t deal with all the fade to black scenes. Thus moving onto romance and eventually reverse harem because what is not to love about a TON of guys. Srsly.

sex booksex austin powers

But back to the posibility of me being a book whore. I love a lot of the books I find. Like really love them. Some are okay and I’m fine with dropping off and not reading more of the series but most I fall desperately in love with. I honestly think I have been really good at finding some really amazing authors. This has a lot to do with my Facebook group stalkdom (new word) and befriending a lot of the authors in the genre. It’s probably my favorite part. I get to be all fangirly and feel like I’m actually part of something great. It’s amazing to talk to someone who wrote something truly remarkable that you love to pieces.

Sooooooo the question is how do you all find your favorite books? Do you scour Goodreads? Do you question Facebook groups? Do you go with Amazon recs? Let me know!

Keep swooning dolls ❤

Swooning over Mia’s Men

I have stayed away from contemporary for a long time and I have no idea why. I mean I still love paranormal but my love for contemporary romance, mostly reverse harem, has grown exponentially. My recent obsession? Mia’s Men by Lucy Felthouse. Ahhhh this book is good. Let’s get into it.

Mia's Men.jpg

Find it here on Amazon!

Mia’s father has finally lost the battle to cancer and Mia is crushed. She is left to their huge estate by herself and has never felt so lonely. She has pretty much been running the estate single-handedly since her father started getting ill. She was under the assumption she had a pretty good handle on his father’s wishes and his will. That is until the will is read….

funeral.gif

Her loving father has determined that Mia will receive nothing unless she gets married to a man within a year. He must be a man of status, he must take her last name so that any children they have will carry the Harrington name, and he must sign a prenuptial agreement. Think late 90s movie, The Bachelor, with Chris O’Donnell Renee Zellweger. Obviously Mia is pissed, I mean let’s be honest I’m pissed too. My inner feminist is rioting and ready to burn shit down. How on earth could her father do this to her? If she fails to do this outrageous request she loses everything. The estate, everything she has worked for, to her greedy arrogant cousin.

the bachelor.gif

Mia, having been spending all her time taking care of the estate, does not have a love life. No boyfriends, no prospects, nothing. How on earth is she supposed to find a man of social standing within a year?! Only in fiction can this work. I truly hope this doesn’t happen in real life because how can anyone expect a prosperous happy marriage to happen if there are these crazy limitations put on it. Sure she has a year whereas the movie above the character had 24 hours but still. This shit should happen organically. Lucky for Mia she is able to land some pretty amazing men. Yup, men. Take that dad!

marry.gif

After the death of her father Mia’s eyes are open to the estate’s gardener. Never has she looked at him sexually, but once she starts she likes what she sees. Mia’s attraction to Thomas is super hot and adorable. He is completely aware of her situation and that he can’t fulfill the terms of her father’s will, he isn’t a man of social standing but that doesn’t stop their secret love affair. I mean the entire time I am picturing John Rowland from Desperate Housewives because… god.damn. #swoon

john rowland.gif

Mia meets two more of her men at a charity event she attends in honor of her father. The banter between Elias, Alex, and Mia will have you giggling like a school girl. Mia is a lot more proper than I am so I am sometimes annoyed by her rocking the boat but mostly because I don’t want the love to stop. Normally I would be cheering her independence and ability to stand up for herself. It immediately becomes clear to Mia that both guys are into her and she is into both of them. She can’t figure out who she is going to pick as they are both great candidates for husband and meet her father’s stipulations. It becomes clear through their flirty banter that Elias and Alex have a bit of a thing. They like to share women. Oh goodness, yes. Sold. During this auction Elias bids on a weekend experience with extravagant car after hearing that driving such a car is on Mia’s bucket list… He of course wins and sets up a weekend for their once in a lifetime experience. Which includes Alex and an overnight stay…. Who cares about the car, ammiright?!

3.gif

After being introduced to the idea of having a harem, a la reverse harem, Mia is completely down with the idea. Um duh. She goes from single to ready to mingle. Snort. I know, that was bad. So she has Thomas her swoony gardener, Elias and Alex the rich guys that are down with sharing, what’s one more guy right?! The man with the extravagant car, Arjun, is into Mia and she also fancies him. Now she just has to figure out if Thomas is okay with sharing, Elias and Alex are okay with sharing more than just between them, and if Arjun would be down with all this craziness? I mean does this happen in real life?! #WhyChoose

men.gif

I really enjoyed this book. It was really well written and had me laughing a lot. Mia is a smart independent woman that takes a shitty situation and makes it pretty damn amazing. This book feels very much like a modern day Pride and Prejudice. It really reads like Jane Austen and I love it. I like that Mia isn’t this tame woman that just rolls over for what her men want. She is very clear about what she wants and stands up for herself repeatedly. She may have been forced into a patriarchal predicament by her father but she is not retiring to be a timid housewife. I would definitely recommend this book ❤ As always, keep swooning!

Healing my soul through Winter Princess. Plus accents. Yum.

Do you ever have books that look so good that you buy it but just let it sit in your kindle library? It’s the book that sits in your TBR list with its beautiful cover and intriguing blurb but you just don’t start it because your TBR list is so freaking long? Well this book was that for me. I honestly can’t believe it took me so long to read it because it’s soooo freaking good.
Winter Princess.jpg
I recently had something horrible happen to me, I had my second miscarriage this year and I felt like reading something happy because life was crappy and I wanted to laugh. Although I definitely laughed at parts, I also cried, swooned, got mad, swooned some more, and couldn’t get a grasp on what the fuck was happening. It helped a lot. Books tend to do that. Help you escape the horrors of your life so that you can dive into a fictional world of wonder. I loved all these books so much I sped read through them all. Staying up waaaay past my bedtime because I just could not stop reading.
read
Wynter has been living with her adoptive parents for as long as she can remember. She has gotten infrequent visits from her biological mother, Mother of Gods and Queen of Winter. Her visits from her mother have been cold and always leave her broken hearted. Hopefully things are about to change, because her biological mom has sent her a letter inviting her to the realm. She knows that soon she will be coming into her magic, because like her biological mother she isn’t human. Her mother is a goddess which makes Wynter a demigoddess. She has always been able to do small magical things, like shut the door or turn on the lights, but on the morning of her 22nd birthday shit goes haywire. Her magic starts throwing knives all around, catches her loft on fire, and even causes an earthquake destroying half of her block.
fire.gif
It looks like Wynter is going to destroy everything around her as she has zero control of her magic. That is until 4 hunky men come ready to help her. Storm, Frost, Arc, and Crispin are four guardians sent by her mother to escort her to the winter realms. These guardians have powers of their own and are able to buffer Wyn’s magic. Wynter being a strong independent woman isn’t a huge fan of having to be protected by these men. She has to quickly learn that she needs all the help she can get to protect herself as the world is a lot bigger than she thought it was and the protection is much needed. This protection is solidified unbeknownst to Wyn. When the guys worked together to stop the earthquake at her parent’s house they pulled magic from her creating a bond between them. This creates a pull between her and the men. She finds herself really attracted to them. Like ready to start making out with them and jump their bones. Honestly, I don’t think I’d need the bond 😉

I love that this book is written by a Scottish author using a lot of  Scottish lingo. I have always had a fascination with Scotland. PLUS the men with their accents are fucking hot. Whew. Obviously this being said my favorite of the men is Arc who is always wearing a kilt and has a thick accent. Swoon. I find myself trying to adopt his accent in my head and sometimes out loud. My husband thinks I’m a freak, I don’t disagree 😊 But seriously all the men are hot. Frost, Storm, and Crispy are super swoon worthy — Arc just… Ahhhh 😍 Skye Mackinnon knows how to write sexy assed men with sexy assed scenes ❤
kilt.gif
Winter Princess has all anyone can want in a book. Badass women in the form of Goddesses/Demi-Goddesses, sexy assed Guardians, demons, magic, steamy as sin scenes, hilarious scenes, action, and obviously rainbow sex. Whew. It is amazing. You just need to jump in, then you’ll be swooning too ❤
