Let’s talk about an AMAZING book. Seriously soooo good. I finished Hotter than Hades earlier this month and thought to myself, there is no way I am going to fall for any of these Gods as hard as I have for Hades. His devotion to Cressy is just. Gahhhhh. Well then I met Apollo and holy fucking shit. Move over Hades, Christian, and Nash because these guys are my new favorites (sorry guys! 💔). Let’s get into the swoons ❤
Please note that this series should be read in order as the 2nd book does contain spoilers.
Okay so we end the first book, Hotter Than Hades, and Cressy’s bestie Ella who is a ghost has been poofed away by Zeus. Cressy is devastated as expected and we are left wondering what happened to our favorite bestie. Well Zeus brought Ella back in the body of a woman named, wait for it, Cinderella. Snort. Ella only vaguely remembers her previous life but knows that she is definitely not this Cinderella person. As she is recovering from a long term coma and accident her mother puts her in a recovery center. A recovery center run by a couple guardians, Pollux and Achilles. Ella’s favorite activity in this place she is being kept in is to visit the horse stables at night. You know, to listen to Pollux and Achilles have sex… 🔥🔥🔥
Her last escapade in the stables is super hot but she gets caught. Pollux and Achilles don’t know how to react to Ella, their little peeping Tina. They immediately feel an unexplainable connection with her but don’t act on their feelings. The next morning Apollo and Castor arrive. Apollo, the sun God, and Castor, another guardian as well as Pollux’s twin brother, have come to meet Cindy or Ella as we know her. Apollo promised to marry Cinderella after her father passed and he feels it is time to live up to his obligations. He doesn’t expect their meeting to carry so much heat though or that her connection with he and his guardians would be so immediate. A quick call to Zeus confirms that Ella is indeed his fated, his wife.
I seriously love the relationship that develops between Ella and her men. Castor, Pollux, Achilles, and Apollo are so fucking swoony. The dynamic between the characters is amazing and the steam is off the charts. I seriously think this is one of my favorite Serena Akeroyd books. It’s that good. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Serena Akeroyd is a fucking word wizard and she once again doesn’t disappoint. You need to grab this book ASAP, you definitely won’t regret it. Now to just wait until the next God and guardians I can swoon over ❤
I wish that I had all the time in the world to just read and listen to books. There is just so much stuff that overtakes our lives. Kids, family, work, sports, TV, friends, movies, video games, etc. I want to be able to do all the things but there just isn’t enough time! This hectic lifestyle leaves me little time to read and listen to audiobooks. My work has even gotten to complicated to be able to listen to audiobooks all day as I am constantly interrupted by phone calls. Oh well. Life goes on. When I’m old and retired I’ll spend all my time listening and reading to my smut 😉 Recently though I was able to listen to a really good book. It was a light standalone that I was able to listen to on a leisurely Sunday. Let’s get into it ❤
Are you drooling over that cover?! I know I am ❤ So this book is about a woman, Saffron, who owns her own bakery, Sugar & Spice. Saffron meets up with her friends one night and is introduced to a very gorgeous man named Cal by one of her close friends Daniel. He seems to be exactly her type but she doesn’t want to step on Daniels toes and risk his friendship with his new co-worker. As Cal becomes more integrated into their group of friend’s Saffron can’t seem to keep her mind off the man. Especially when he starts dropping into her bakery on his own.
Cal’s apparent interest in Saffron has not gone unnoticed by her friend Daniel. Daniel warns Saffron to stay away from Cal under the guise that he doesn’t want her to get hurt. I mean in my world that is the go ahead. Someone tells me not to do something so now I obviously have to do it. Plus Saffron is a grown as woman and can make her own decisions, especially when they come to drop dead sexy men. When things begin heating up between Saffron and Cal he puts things to a stop before they can go any farther. Why? Because he wants to do this right, dinner, flowers, a real date. Talk about freaking swoons. #MarryMeCal
When the night of Cal and Saffron’s date comes she is thrown for a loop. This isn’t a typical date as there is someone at their table. His name is Evan and he is Cal’s brother. What the what?! Well Cal and Evan have a bit of a kink. A kink that I am totally down for. But, will Saffron be down for it? & how will she deal with Daniel and his unhappiness about her relationship with Cal?
This book was super cute and super hot. I loved Laura Greenwood’s writing style and that the Audiobook narrator was british. #Swoon. This book is a standalone in a series. The other books in the series are about other characters so it can be read all on it’s own or you can binge the whole series. Either way you are in for a deliciously sexy treat ❤
So one of my most anticipated books of the year dropped last week. From the moment I saw the cover reveal I couldn’t freaking wait to read this book! I mean who’s shirt is she wearing?! Sadly I wasn’t able to jump right into it as I had some reading obligations to finish before I could get into it but once I did. I was hooked. I seriously love this series. It is so original and the characters are just so swoon-worthy. If you haven’t read book 1, Perfect, or book 2, Broken, stop right here. STOP! Go read those books! They are amazeballs and you won’t be sorry. So are you ready to get into it?! ❤
We rejoin Thessaly and her guys just after they have escape the horror of last book, Broken (see my review here!). Something has happened to Thess in that lab and only Julian, Jax, and Bram have an idea of what it could be. Tobias, just coming back from being MIA to go break it off with his girlfriend, and Thessaly are both completely out of the loop. Thessaly is recovering from the drug that she was given after she and Julian had been captured, a drug that has caused complete memory loss of the entire situation. She is trying to recover from the unknown as well as acclimate to their new environment. Thess and the guys are now in the underground, below Robbie & Kait’s bar, with the resistance. Hundreds of people are fleeing the government as people with certain scores have gone missing. The resistance has grouped together in several different areas to avoid the government takeover. The underground reminds me so much of the Host by Stephanie Meyer. Plus the characters of Jeb (the Host) and Robbie are seriously soulbrothers. Quirky, intelligent, doomsday prepers that you can’t help but fall in love with. In a platonic way of course.
So life in the underground isn’t what I particularly want. I mean I’m thinking, hey they have escaped the horribleness of Zinna and Roux and are potentially safe right now. It’s time to chill right? A time full of swoons, the characters falling deeper in love, and sex ammirite?! Well I do get that. In spades. But I also get a lot of running around. Thess, the guys, as well as the rest of the members of the resistance have to start training in different areas including combat as well as learning more about what their scores and genus mean to them and their futures. They are under a pretty strict schedule and are unable to leave due to the lockdown. We learn a lot more about the genome testing and what scores mean in terms of mating, coupling up, friendships, etc. It’s truly interesting and you can tell that the author did a crap ton of research. It isn’t so science-y (yes, that’s the technical term) that you get lost but it is definitely not all swoons. There is a lot of depth in this book.
I love all the depth, truly I do. But we all know why I’m here. THE SWOONS! This book brings the swoon, the romance, the love, and some definite STEAM. We got my boy Jax who is the embodiment of freaking sex. He brings in a VERY sexy secret this book. I don’t want to spoil it for you but it had me drooling all the damn time. I’m surprised I don’t have literal bites marks imprinted on my bottom lip from biting it so much. That’s how swooned I was. PLUS she has some amaaaazing times with Bram. Gahhh he is so fucking swoony. I can’t. I just can’t. Then once Tobias comes back and all is forgiven we get to find out some interesting sexual stuff about him. Some stuff that makes me VERY excited for book 4. Gahhhhh it’s all sooooo good! I know there are a lot of Julian lovers out there (I am not one of them surprisingly), he’s okay but the other guys are so freaking hot that I usually let him fall by the wayside. Julian has some definite sexy moments. Moments I even found myself enjoying, but also some moments where I was more irritated with him that I ever was with Tobias after he left the group last book. But overall the love factor for me was fire. So much fire. 5/5 hearts. 5/5 fires. That’s a high assed rating! (ARE YOU ONE-CLICK-BUYING YET?!)
I feel like this series just keeps getting better and better. Just when I think it can’t get any better it does. I finished the book last night and felt such a book hangover. The feeling where you drop your kindle and stare aimlessly into the sky because the book was so fucking good you don’t know how you to move on from that moment. Where you want to immediately start all over because you already miss the characters. Like I miss Jax so fucking much it’s ridiculous. He isn’t real Julia, he isn’t real. Oh well. Wanna hear the BEST part of all this. The book ends with your regular ‘to be continued’ then you get to see when the next book is coming out. Now to just count the days….
“Ah, fuck, Darlin’,” Jax pants between stilted, pained breaths. “Damn I’ve wanted you so bad since the moment I laid eyes on ya.” Abandon exudes from his breathy words, and the sound of his voice combined with the fullness of our joining ultimately becomes my undoing.
Hi dolls! I want to share an amazing author with you! She currently has 3 books out with her 4th releasing very soon. She was nice enough to let me interview her. & by interview that obviously means asking her all the questions I’ve been dying to know then fangirling over her answers! 🙂
You can find my reviews of the first two books in the Crystal Clear series as well as her standalone below. They are some really good books! You’ll love them, trust me 😉 — Click the links to read my reviews, click the pictures to find them on Amazon!
Tell me a little about yourself, your likes, dislikes, etc.
Why do I feel like I’m writing a bio for a dating app? I’m Lana Kole, author of paranormal reverse harem romance. Three cats own my house, and I only live there, catering to their needs. Iced coffee fills my veins and snacks keep the creativity flowing. I’m not one for social activity, and not only because I hate real pants. Anyone wanna date me yet?
Do you use a pen name? If so, what made you decide to
go that route?
do! I’m not only an author—I have a full time job, too and I didn’t want my
employer associated with my books.
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
always loved reading, and have been
obsessed with the imagination and dedication it takes to create an entire
world, build characters, and make them come to life on a page. Vivid dreams
have always woken me up in the middle of the night, and I’d lean over and jot
down the dream in my notes, wishing I could develop it into something more. It
didn’t even occur to me to try publishing until I came into the RH community and
learned about self-publishing, and I started developing.
How long does it take you to write a book?
It’s hard for me to answer with only four books under my belt, because I have yet to establish a routine. I would like to take three months to each book, but that’s just impossible. So, usually about a month and a half, to two months, but I’ve been cramming recently.
What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
I work my full time job from 8-4, and then come home and write, and cram on the weekends. Its 24/7 grind for me right now.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Interesting? I’m not sure about that word, lol. It has to be dead silent for me to focus. A friend once called me a witch because I heard some kids playing outside my house and without even realizing, I was like, “I hear children.” You can tell I’m a single cat lady.
How hard was it to get your books published?
The process with Amazon is actually pretty simple, but its writing, and making covers, and doing promotions that are the hardest part. It takes so much time and energy out of an author to get everything ready in time.
Where did you get the idea for your books?
For Crystal Clear, it literally started with an image in my head of a woman surrounded by darkness. I worked the series around that first scene. For Feline Good, it started as a joke, a cat lady with shape shifting pets, but then it took me where it wanted to go.
Where do you get your information for books?
I despise research, honestly. So I try to build worlds that I don’t have to focus on timelines, or historical accuracy. For Feline Good, it did actually require lots of research, and my friend Stacey is an expert in all things Egyptian, so I leaned on her a lot through that book.
When did you write your first book and how old were
Once upon a time, my mom and I started writing a MF romance together. Yes, we’re that close and she’s that cool. I was probably around… 16ish at the time.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Reading or mindlessly watching TV, giving my brain a break.
What does your family think of your writing?
My mom is so thrilled, and she even betas for me. My aunt says she wants to read it, but I’m afraid she’ll disown me, LOL. I told my dad he wasn’t allowed to read them.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned
in creating your books?
How hard it was to actually develop a world. It’s difficult to make sure that what you envision is what you’ve written for someone else to read.
How many books have you written? Which is your
I’ve written four books, and it’s impossible to pick which one is a favorite. Book two of the Crystal Clear Series is so light and fun and sexy, but book three is darker—in the way it’s about Mori and the guys growing together. It’s real, and they struggle, but overcoming those obstacles make them stronger together, and I think that’s beautiful in a way.
Do you have any suggestion to help someone become a
better writer? If so, what are they?
Push the self-doubt away. Write through it, keep going, and always revise later. Don’t get hung up on perfecting the first paragraph before you even write the first draft.
Do you hear from readers much? What kinds of things do
Oh my gosh, do I ever. I love my reader group. They send me cat memes, and basically have free reign over my group. They talk to each other a lot, and it makes my heart happy to see friendships play out.
Who is your author idol?
I really love Madison Faye, her instalove books make me so happy, lol. Kresley Cole and JR Ward got me into the Paranormal Romance world back when I was in high school. Also my girl Kathryn Moon, and I don’t say that just because we’re besties. She writes like no one else I’ve ever seen, so flowy and magical and pretty. No one could replicate that if they tried.
What are some books on your current TBR?
Well I was looking forward to Kathryn Moon’s third book in the Librarian’s Coven, but I finished that pretty quick. In case you’re wondering, it was awesome. Next is her Sun and Moon series. I’ve gotten a sneak peek at what she has so far, and I’m literally vibrating with excitement to see where she takes it. Bethany Jadin is cooking up some pretty awesome stuff that’s at the top of my list, and anything Madison Faye writes is an instabuy—she’s doing a series of historically inaccurate romances—Kilts and Kisses—and I can’t wait! JR Ward’s Savior just came out, the 17th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I can’t wait to sink my fangs into that one. (har-har). Also, Joanne Ganci just released her debut novel and it sounds adorable.
Thank you so much Lana Kole for answering all my questions ❤ If you haven’t fallen in love with this girl yet you are crazy. & not the good kind. Make sure you check out her books because they are AMAZING! You have time to binge-read the first two books of the crystal clear series before book 3 comes out this month!
I want to take you all on a journey. A journey of sexiness. Of course this journey includes Serena Akeroyd because everything she writes is pure freaking gold. I am seriously swooned. Swooned by some men. Hades, Christian, and Nash. This book is good. Really good. Let’s get into it dolls ❤
Okay so we have our beautiful female main character, Cressida or Cressy. She is a singer that lives a pretty solitary life. She doesn’t have any family or friends, other than her one friend Ella who she doesn’t get to see very often due to her tours and her friend’s busy job. Cressy’s life was changed a few months back when she was assaulted by another singer at the company she works for. She was unable to take action against her attacker and since then has felt depressed and fearful of those around her. She is only surrounded by her manager, crew, and a fellow singer she is touring with. The story starts off emotionally dark but Cressy is a very likable character. She is still strong even after the turmoil she has experienced and still finds something to look forward to when her friend Ella has taken some time off to come to one of her shows.
Nash is touring with Cressy and he can’t help his attraction to her. What makes her more attractive? The fact that he can see she is attracted to him but fights it. He spends all his time in close contact with her and can’t keep his eyes off her. He has seen how her mood has changed, how her spirit has diminished. When her friend Ella comes to see their show he sees her light up again. Cressy and Ella have a night of fun. They get to catch up and Ella is able to bring some fun back into Cressy’s life.
A horrible turn of events brings Cressy to a new low. Taken into the arms of Nash he helps her through her troubles and introduces her to some men that can help. Hades and Christian. Oh em gee. Hades is so fucking swoony I just can’t, I literally can’t. Immediately upon meeting Christian and Hades it is clear that there is something between them. Something out of their control, something fated. Hades, Christian, and Nash begin to swoon Cressy as she is thrown into a world of what she believed to be folklore. The love that develops between the group of them is amazing. I constantly found myself giggling and smiling like an idiot. The men help pull Cressy out of the darkness that has become her life. They help her find herself and they help her seek retribution for the wrongs that have been dealt to her.
This book was really fucking good. Like super good. One of my favorite reads so far this year. It was so interesting learning more about the Gods and their guardians and this awesome world Serena Akeroyd has created. She just has the ability to make me so freaking swoony that I feel a little heartbroken when it’s over. She also really knows how to bring the steam. I swear she is the queen of steamy scenes. Plus, this book is one in a series that will continue looking at each of the gods find their mates. The next book, is about Cressy’s friend Ella. Swoon. I can’t wait to keep reading these books. Serena can’t come out with them fast enough ❤
“I wanted her to know that I would kneel for one woman and one woman alone in this world, and that was her.”
I feel like I’ve mentioned this before. Maybe not. I have a fear of aliens. A deep rooted fear that has gone all the way back to my childhood. I remember watching the movie Signs and laying on my parents floor crying because we lived surrounded by cornfields. My only saving grace was that we also lived by a pond. War of the Worlds, get outta here. I mean even freaking Men In Black scared me. Literal nightmares. Now don’t get me wrong. I still watch alien movies. It’s that sick thing we all do where we enjoy being scared, it’s why scary movies and haunted houses do so well. We are all sick freaks.
Okay all that up there, babbling. Not really out of character for me. So yes, I love being scared by aliens. That has been established. But when I am on the look out for my next sexy read am I looking into the alien genre? No. But I have certain friends that are trying to get me to spread my wings.. err, tentacles 😉 Well I’ve done it. & guess what. I am in love with a couple of alien men. Let’s get into it 💙💜💚
We have our main character, Selena, who is a gorgeous human (I mean look at her up there!) that has been tested on for her entire life. She has been subject to some horrific shit by an alien species called the Yaarkins. She has lived her lonely life as an outcast and her only interaction is in the form of torture until the ship she is on is under siege. She is able to get herself to an escape pod and gets herself away from her life long prison.
Selena wakes up on another strange ship but the environment feels far less hostile. Her first encounter with her new shipmates is with a male named Xylo. Xylo looks nothing like your typical sexy male lead. His species is more plant like as he is covered in a moss like hair, has a galactic-like coloring, vines with a mind of their own, and large teal pupil-less eyes. He immediately treats her with care and respect, something Selena has never experienced. He even asks her name, something she has never had before so chooses Selena on the spot. She has never been around a species that has treated her as a person, she has only experienced life as a test subject. Selena’s attraction to Xylo is immediate and his kind demeanor leads her to immediately embrace and kiss him. Get it girl!
Selena’s world is completely flipped upside-down immediately after she begins her stay on the ship, the Destiny. She tries to navigate through her life with her newfound freedom, a complication with a previous lover from her dreamscape, and her newly formed relationship with Xylo. The world building in this book is freaking amazing. I don’t need images of these alien men because the author is able to describe them so well I have perfect pictures in my mind. The characters are all very lovable and I found myself growing my own harem with characters she might not even bring into her harem. They are all so great, I’m even swooning over the not so great ones! Plus I mean imagine all the ways that vines and tentacles can be beneficial in a sexual relationship… It brings a lot of steam into your life 🔥
The end of this book left me spinning. I literally forced myself to stay up far too late but I had to keep reading. It was just so good!! Jade Waltz found a way to make a girl terrified of aliens fall in love with her aliens. & not just aliens that look like men but are green or blue. ALIENS THAT LOOK LIKE ALIENS!! Plus now I NEED the next book. Like now. I am so in love with these viney, tentacley, alien males ❤
There is this author named Serena Akeroyd. She is seriously a writing goddess. A wizard of words if you will. Everything she writes is seriously gold. She could write obituaries and I would read every single one. I have read several of her books and have never been disappointed so when she came out with a new series that isn’t reverse harem *gasp* I knew I needed to get it multiple guys or not. Let’s get into this amaaaaazingly dark and steamy contemporary romance. But let’s get something straight first… Finn is MINE ❤ *wipes away drool*
These books are about a woman name Aoife (pronounced Ee-fah) who owns a bakery that a large company is trying to buy out. Being a fiery Irish woman she has refused all attempts out of principle and respect to her mom’s memory. That is until the sexiest man on earth walks in her door, Finn. ❤️ Finn is seriously the love of my life. I love me some bad boys and he fits this criteria perfectly. He swoops in determined to have Aoife. She’s gorgeous, thick, Irish, and everything he has every wanted in a woman. He can’t resist her charms and he knows that he has to get her to give up her place but he also knows he has to have her. He just doesn’t know if one will stop the other.
Finn and Aoife’s relationship is fucking electric. I mean their attraction to each other… I’m swooning just thinking about it. I love Irish guys. Seriously if I could get an Irish man to talk to me all day. Done. I’d be done. I try to get my husband to talk Irish to me. Sometimes he tries. Most of the time he tells me to stop being a weirdo. I need Serena to get this on audio and find the sexiest sounding Irish man in the world to narrate it. Done. I’d be done.
Okay, okay. Back to the story, because its a really good one. I just want to lick Finn’s freaking face. I’ll calm down. So Finn is part of an Irish gang called the Five Points. It is lead by his pseudo father who is an absolute nutcase. Like a nutcase with a heart of gold. Finn isn’t the kneecapping kinda Irish gangster though, more like behind the scenes business kinda gangster. So he is super loaded. Not only Irish. Not only a bad boy. Not only sexy as all hell. Rich. Dear lord save us all. Aoife was raised to fear the Five Points. They rule the city. They are scary as hell but keep shit in line. She never thought she’d end up with a Points man. Until Finn that is. I mean did you read all that. Danger smanger. I want me some Finn in my life. The danger just makes him all the more sexy I swear ❤
If I haven’t sold you yet I don’t know what is wrong with you. Who doesn’t love a bad boy?!?!?! I mean, sure, you don’t marry them. That would never turn out well. BUT these are the guys you have the high school, college, early twenties flings with. They are dark, dirty, and fuuuucking hot as hell. I mean even your good boys are a bit bad. So are you ready for some Finn in your life?!
