Finding love in the dark. Illusion of Darkness.

I’m not crying. You’re crying. What?! WHY ARE MY EYES LEAKING?! Ugh. So I finished the last book of the Crystal Clear series by Lana Kole. It was fuggin amazing. & my heart is in pieces. I missed Mori and these guys so freaking much. Kai, Walker, Remi, Levi… Swoon… Let’s get into it ♥️

Please note that this is book three of the Crystal Clear series, if you haven’t read book 1 or 2 there are spoilers ahead.

Find it here on Amazon/Kindle Unlimited!

We join the guys and Moira. Yeah, you read that right. MOIRA. Not Mori. That asshole Viggo succeeded in putting his dead wife’s soul into our girl Mori, so now we are stuck with this bitch. Okay, well maybe she isn’t a bitch. But still… We need Mori! The guys are obviously devastated and working around the clock to get Mori back. They just need to find a swytch. Moira (not a bitch, but also not Mori) is helping them find a way to get Mori back because she is not down with her crazy ex’s plans. She sees the devastation the guys are experiencing and although she does appreciate her second chance at life she knows that it isn’t fair to Mori. The POVs with the guys is heartbreaking. Literally, my heart is broken.

Meanwhile Mori is still here. She is just not here here. With Moira taking the forefront of her body, Mori is forced into the recesses of her mind. She is stuck in the darkness with no one, left screaming in fear without no one to answer her calls. It’s been months and she isn’t convinced that she was ever really alive. Maybe it was all a cruel dream. Maybe none of the guys were real. How long will she be stuck in this darkness?

Mori’s prison of darkness is only one hurdle they have to jump. We are also dealing with the missing mages and a return of Dick Holder. Even after escaping the darkness of her mind Mori has extreme problems with darkness, anxiety over what she missed, and overall fear of going back to that horrible place. Mori’s time in the dark place meant a lot of time the guys spent with Moira as well as some big changes in BCS.

Don’t worry, the book isn’t all darkness, doom, and gloom. There is also an amazing amount of relationship building. We get to see deeper into the lives of Kai, Walker, Remi, and Levi. There is so much emotion in this book it makes you love the characters so much more than you already did. The love between Mori and her guys is so… ugh. Fucking swoony. I never wanted it to end. Plus the steam. Whew. Shit there is some hot scenes in this book ❤

I am so fucking sad this series is over. I loved this so much and I want more. YOU HERE ME LANA I WANT MORE!! I can’t imagine my life with no more Walker. No more Kai. No more Remi and Levi?! NOOOOOO!!! I just want to sit around and listen to Kai call me baby girl. I wanna watch Walker chop wood. I wanna sit on Levi’s lap while he fucks with computers. I want to lay in bed with Remi all day long. If you haven’t read this series you need to. Like now. It is so freaking amazing. I can’t wait to see what Lana Kole comes out with next ❤

“I love you. Fuck, I love you.”

She let out a short huff, and turned to retrieve her coffee mug, returning and grabbing one of the folding chairs leaning against the siding. Letting it be heard what she was doing, she stomped down the steps, unfolding the chair with a carefully balanced hand full of precious caffeine, and slapped her ass down in that chair. It was only a few moments later that Walker saw what she’d done. “What the hell are you doing?” he frowned at her as he paused with the axe balanced between two fists. “Enjoying the view.” The sun cast a perfect shadow to pronounce the tick in his jaw, and she barely kept herself from smirking. “Go on. Please.”

It’s time to swoon with me dolls ❤

Lana Kole: Author Spotlight

Hi dolls! I want to share an amazing author with you! She currently has 3 books out with her 4th releasing very soon. She was nice enough to let me interview her. & by interview that obviously means asking her all the questions I’ve been dying to know then fangirling over her answers! 🙂

You can find my reviews of the first two books in the Crystal Clear series as well as her standalone below. They are some really good books! You’ll love them, trust me 😉 — Click the links to read my reviews, click the pictures to find them on Amazon!

Meet Lana…. ❤

Tell me a little about yourself, your likes, dislikes, etc.

Why do I feel like I’m writing a bio for a dating app? I’m Lana Kole, author of paranormal reverse harem romance. Three cats own my house, and I only live there, catering to their needs. Iced coffee fills my veins and snacks keep the creativity flowing. I’m not one for social activity, and not only because I hate real pants. Anyone wanna date me yet?

Do you use a pen name? If so, what made you decide to go that route?

I do! I’m not only an author—I have a full time job, too and I didn’t want my employer associated with my books.

When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve always loved reading, and have been obsessed with the imagination and dedication it takes to create an entire world, build characters, and make them come to life on a page. Vivid dreams have always woken me up in the middle of the night, and I’d lean over and jot down the dream in my notes, wishing I could develop it into something more. It didn’t even occur to me to try publishing until I came into the RH community and learned about self-publishing, and I started developing.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It’s hard for me to answer with only four books under my belt, because I have yet to establish a routine. I would like to take three months to each book, but that’s just impossible. So, usually about a month and a half, to two months, but I’ve been cramming recently.

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

I work my full time job from 8-4, and then come home and write, and cram on the weekends. Its 24/7 grind for me right now.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Interesting? I’m not sure about that word, lol. It has to be dead silent for me to focus. A friend once called me a witch because I heard some kids playing outside my house and without even realizing, I was like, “I hear children.” You can tell I’m a single cat lady.

How hard was it to get your books published?

The process with Amazon is actually pretty simple, but its writing, and making covers, and doing promotions that are the hardest part. It takes so much time and energy out of an author to get everything ready in time.

Where did you get the idea for your books?

For Crystal Clear, it literally started with an image in my head of a woman surrounded by darkness. I worked the series around that first scene. For Feline Good, it started as a joke, a cat lady with shape shifting pets, but then it took me where it wanted to go.

Where do you get your information for books?

I despise research, honestly. So I try to build worlds that I don’t have to focus on timelines, or historical accuracy. For Feline Good, it did actually require lots of research, and my friend Stacey is an expert in all things Egyptian, so I leaned on her a lot through that book.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

Once upon a time, my mom and I started writing a MF romance together. Yes, we’re that close and she’s that cool. I was probably around… 16ish at the time.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Reading or mindlessly watching TV, giving my brain a break.

What does your family think of your writing?

My mom is so thrilled, and she even betas for me. My aunt says she wants to read it, but I’m afraid she’ll disown me, LOL. I told my dad he wasn’t allowed to read them.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

How hard it was to actually develop a world. It’s difficult to make sure that what you envision is what you’ve written for someone else to read.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve written four books, and it’s impossible to pick which one is a favorite. Book two of the Crystal Clear Series is so light and fun and sexy, but book three is darker—in the way it’s about Mori and the guys growing together. It’s real, and they struggle, but overcoming those obstacles make them stronger together, and I think that’s beautiful in a way.

Do you have any suggestion to help someone become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Push the self-doubt away. Write through it, keep going, and always revise later. Don’t get hung up on perfecting the first paragraph before you even write the first draft.

Do you hear from readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

Oh my gosh, do I ever. I love my reader group. They send me cat memes, and basically have free reign over my group. They talk to each other a lot, and it makes my heart happy to see friendships play out.

Who is your author idol?

I really love Madison Faye, her instalove books make me so happy, lol. Kresley Cole and JR Ward got me into the Paranormal Romance world back when I was in high school. Also my girl Kathryn Moon, and I don’t say that just because we’re besties. She writes like no one else I’ve ever seen, so flowy and magical and pretty. No one could replicate that if they tried.

What are some books on your current TBR?

Well I was looking forward to Kathryn Moon’s third book in the Librarian’s Coven, but I finished that pretty quick. In case you’re wondering, it was awesome. Next is her Sun and Moon series. I’ve gotten a sneak peek at what she has so far, and I’m literally vibrating with excitement to see where she takes it. Bethany Jadin is cooking up some pretty awesome stuff that’s at the top of my list, and anything Madison Faye writes is an instabuy—she’s doing a series of historically inaccurate romances—Kilts and Kisses—and I can’t wait! JR Ward’s Savior just came out, the 17th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I can’t wait to sink my fangs into that one. (har-har). Also, Joanne Ganci just released her debut novel and it sounds adorable.

Thank you so much Lana Kole for answering all my questions ❤ If you haven’t fallen in love with this girl yet you are crazy. & not the good kind. Make sure you check out her books because they are AMAZING! You have time to binge-read the first two books of the crystal clear series before book 3 comes out this month!

Lana Kole always leaves me Feline Good

Sometimes you just want a book where you know you’ll get your happy ending. Don’t get me wrong, I love to read books in a series. Seriously, I almost read them exclusively. But I also love Lana Kole so I knew I needed to read this book. Plus cats. 😻 Let’s get into this steamy swoony Valentine’s day book for both the people who love Valentine’s day and the people who hate it. ❤

Maya is a badass. I mean seriously, look at her. She is the bad girl we all wish we could be. Who the eff can sexily pull off a septum piercing?! Plus she owns a bar AND loves cats. I have a serious girl crush. Maya is bae (I only say that ironically 😏) So Maya lives a typical life. She’s single and spends most of her time at her bar, Feline Good. Her family is all deceased so she lives a mostly solitary life once the bar closes and she retreats to her upstairs apartment. Just her and her three cats. On Valentine’s night as she cleans the bar – let me just add how gross this is, I’ve never worked in a bar but my basement was host to soooo many parties and cleaning up after drunks is atrocious – everything changes.

As men busted into her bar Maya knew it was fight or flight. She lies in wait with her trusty baseball bat ready to attack the intruders and is quite successful until she is overwhelmed. As things are looking pretty bad for Maya something crazy happens. Her 3 adorable cats turn into 3 very sexy naked men. Yowza. These men are able to help her subdue the intruders and send her into a whole other realm that she had no idea existed. A life full of shifters, gods, and magic send this beautiful bartender into uncharted territory as she gets to know the men that have been her cats for over a decade.

This book is so good. It’s steamy and totally swoony. Like I’m am so in love with these men I just can’t. I can’t, okay. It’s nice to have a book with the steam you need, the action, the romance, and a perfect ending all in one book. Sure I’d love more (DON’T WE ALWAYS?!?!) but I’m satisfied with it’s absolute PERFECT ending. What more could you ask for?!

Aren’t you ready to swoon with me?! ❤

Julia Swoons over Valentine’s Day

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!

Who doesn’t love Valentine’s day?!?! I mean my name is Julia Swoons. It’s a given that I LOVE Valentine’s Day. IT’S A DAY OF SWOONS PEOPLE. COME ON!!!!

I have always loved Valentine’s day. I mean not only have I celebrated it my whole life as a day of love — but it’s also a day of presents. I mean come on. Who doesn’t love presents. & candy. & flowers. Must I go on?! Plus think back to those grade school days and making Valentine’s boxes and filling out all your Valentine’s cards. Putting your all into that one card for the boy (or girl) that has captured your heart. Making sure to dot the ‘i’s with hearts, give it a good luck kiss, and maybe a spritz of perfume. I’m a romantic okay… I’ve been boy crazy pretty much my entire life. I have had more crushes in my life than most people. I LOVE LOVE!! ❤❤❤

On this Valentiniest of days I would like to share with you some of the loves of my life. Just slightly out of reach because its hard to do more than one at once. I mean it isn’t impossible but there are just so many moving parts and it can get super confusing. You start to forget people’s names and suddenly you’ve jumped into something with a bunch of people you don’t know. Okay. Settle down there. Julia Swoons is married and will not be acting out any of her favorite reverse harems. [darn.] I, of course, am talking about my never ending TBR list. You have quite the dirty mind… I like it 😉

Okay so there have been A LOT of good books to come out lately. I don’t know what to read next. All these amazing authors are putting out these amazing books and I have to do things like work, parent, and sleep when I could be spending all my time reading. It’s the pits man. So how about you take a look into the books that I will be reading in the next few weeks/months. I mean as long as I don’t get distracted by some other amazing books. That happens a lot. The One Click Buy option on Amazon will be the death of me. For realz.

This book looks fucking amazing. It’s by Lana Kole who wrote Illusion of Escape and Illusion of Death which are both AMAZING. So, of course, I had to one click buy this bitch.. er pussy? I digress. Also, who doesn’t love cats?

This beauty is by Serena Akeroyd who I am COMPLETELY obsessed with. I love her TriAlpha Chronicles, her Quintessence series, and her Kingdom of Verona series. AMAZING freaking books so I know that this one is obviously going to be great. Gahhh I can’t wait for it.

Take a look at this cover. TALK ABOUT STEAM. Now this book is also by Serena Akeroyd, same as above, but this one is NOT reverse harem. But from what I’ve heard it is one of her STEAMIEST books yet. If you have read any of Serena’s book you know that she knows how to bring the steam so if this is the steamiest on then you better bring an extra pair of undies and read it in private 😉

This is the second book in Auryn Hadley’s Dark Orchid Trilogy. The first book was sooooo good and soooooo hot. Plus the main character is a woman of color which you sadly do not see a lot in the reverse harem genre. Auryn Hadley has also written the Demon’s Muse series which is SUPER awesome. She is great at writing super good stories and super hot scenes. I can’t wait for this one.

This is the third book in the Heart Hassle series by Raven Kennedy. The first two, Signs of Cupidity and Bonds of Cupidity are hilarious, steamy, and super swoony. Emelle is hilarious and watching her learn how to live life as a ‘real girl’ when she has been an invisible cupid is so heartwarming. I can’t wait to jump back into the story with her suuuper sexy guys and finally figure out what happens to Okot!

I have heard a lot of good things about this book. It is a contemporary book about a girl and some musicians. I have previously read The Fated Wings series by C R Jane and while I wasn’t head over heels for it I thought it had a good premise and I liked a lot of the characters. I’m hoping that I will really love this book.

Water by Helen Scott looks really good. The cover is gorgeous and the blurb really has me wanting to jump in. I have read the Cerberus series by Helen Scott and it’s one of my favs. Super hot. Super good. FMC is a badass and the guys are sexy, broody, and also badass. I just know that I will love this one.

Now tell me… How on earth am I suppose to pick what to read next?! HOW?! There are so many freaking books in my library that I need to read. So many coming out soon that I know I will buy. Will I ever catch up? No… But I guess that is part of the fun. How is your TBR list looking? Did you find any here that are you going to add to yours?! Let me know! 🙂

Hey! Before I get outta here I just wanted to say again Happy Valentine’s Day! Thanks for taking the time out to read my blog. I love you guys! Find love today. Find a sexy man or lady and buy them coffee. Buy them dinner. Take them home. EXPERIENCE THE LOVE OF THIS MAGICAL DAY. Just know that I will of course be swooning ❤

Swoon, fire, love. Illusion of Death.

You know that feeling you get when you are falling in love? That feeling in your chest and that stupid grin you get on your face. You feel giggly and just completely… Swoony. Well that is how I am feeling. I’m feeling it for some men named Walker, Remi, Kai, and Levi. I am completely obnoxiously swoony and in love with fictional characters. Story of my life.. Ammirite?! Let’s get into why I am sooooo swoony over these guys ❤

Find it here on Amazon!

So we are back with Mori and her men. We left Mori as she and Selena were leaping to their death to escape the evil Sicksman. Walker had just been freed from his 3 year prision and shit was finally going right. Until it all went wrong. We are left wondering if Mori and Selena are alive, will she finally get reunited with ALL her men?!?! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!

Well never fear. Mori and Selena did not die. I mean honestly, what kind of book would it be if she did?! I mean what could happen. This redheaded girl named Julia swoops in to help these guys get over Mori. Maybe there are some group scenes…. *Wipes drool from keyboard* Okay so she is alive. Yay!!!(?) Sadly her and Selena don’t know where the hell they are, how to get back to the guys, and Mori is pretty much drained from using her powers to stop them from crashing to their deaths. Swell stuff.. They spend some time with a bear and walking around a bunch. Very without a paddle-esque. Until they are FINALLY reunited with their men. (SCORE!) I was really worried this walking bit might take a while. Granted I was able to read book 1 and go right into book 2 so the cliffhanger didn’t kill me as much as those who read book 1 when it came out BUT STILL. If this turned into Lord of the Rings and involved a whole lot of walking through the woods I would have died.

We are FINALLY treated with the moment we are all waiting for…. Like really dying for. A moment that is so beautifully written that you almost die. Mori and Walker meeting in person for the first time. No more astryl projection for them and it is the fucking sweetest bit of romance I have read. Seriously the swooniest shit. The kinda shit that makes you think ‘Why even try to write because you are never going to write something this good?’ Whew. I am still reeling from it. I refuse to spoil the wonderful immediacy of it so you’ll just have to read it. It’s the perfect mixture of swoon and fucking fire. *continues to drool*

Okay back to the story. Mori and the guys move into a warehouse and start working for BCS (black cat security) a sort of magekynd police force. Mori finds her place in helping people as well as living life with her men. It’s freaking wonderful. I just loved every moment she spent just being complacent until of course shit pops off again. It can’t be all swoons and sex… There has to be conflict I suppose…

I am seriously crushed that this book is over. I need book #3 like 30 minutes ago. It’s so fucking good. Like the story is awesome. Seriously awesome. The swoon…. Gahhhhh.. I feel like a lovesick teen. & the sex? Fucking fire. Literal fire.. I am so in love with these men I just can’t. How do you move on when you already have perfection?! I always highlight favorite quotes and scenes while I read and I felt like I was highlighting the whole goddamn book. Can I just have more? No? Well I think it’s time that you read this book. If you haven’t read book 1 my review of it is here too. They are both amazing and I can’t wait to see what Lana Kole gives us next.

OKAY — before I end this swoonfest I have to leave you with this amaaaaazingness. This absolutely spectacular quote. So, are you ready to swoon with me dolls?

[His] words were her undoing. “My touch won’t leave you hollow. I want to break you apart, but I’ll be here to put you back together.”

Falling asleep to falling in love… Illusion of Escape.

I just finished an amazing book. Truly amazing. The type of book that when you are finished you are still reeling from the world you have just exited. Please come back… I need more. Are you ready to swoon with me?

Find it here on Amazon!

I had this book in my Kindle library for a while, the premise looked really good but I hadn’t heard much about it and I’m honestly just not into witches as main characters. I have no idea as I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan as you may know. Maybe that’s why. The only witches I have room in my heart for learned their magic at Hogwarts. Well this book has me questioning everything I have decided about witches. In this book they are all mages vs witches but same idea. Magic is the key.

So we have Mori, a single woman with a cat named Trash. Sounds pretty typical. Cue sexy men to sweep her off her feet. Well not so fast. Mori has truly disturbing dreams almost every night where she is transported to a dungeon and tortured. She never experiences the torture though, just the aftermath as she lays in the cell in absolute pain. Still typical stuff, right? Snort. She has become used to these dreams living them as her new normal. Go to sleep and suffer immense pain, get up, go to work, come home, repeat. What a wonderful life….

Mori’s lonely existence in her dreams suddenly changes one night. As she lays there in complete pain but continuing her sarcastic banter to the unknown torturers of her nightmares someone appears. She can’t see him but she can hear him. She can feel him as he helps tend to her wounds. This darker stranger draws her out of her spell, dredging up the painful experiences she is currently experiencing in her life and her job. She jokingly deems him her dream therapist believing she has conjured him up herself in her time of need. For weeks she grew closer to this mysterious dream man of her imagination, truly worried that she was losing her mind.

A horrid turn of events in her real life lead to her losing her job. A potential donor for her job sexually assaults her and to avoid bad publicity she is put on probation. A true indication of the actual climate we live it.. BUT I digress… #metoo

Her world is flipped upside down when the one part of her life that she loves more than anything (besides her cat Trash) is taken away from her. She has no idea what to do with herself. Work was her whole life. What else does she have? Well, her troubles soon turn into something else entirely when she is abducted by a group of three deliciously sexy men. These men shake up her world a bit more by revealing to her that her dream man is real. She, like them, is a mage and she has been interacting with their lost friend, Walker. She is their only hope of finding him and as she has not only grown attached to the man in her dreams but knows the daily pain he suffers she can’t help but oblige in helping them.

Mori with the help of the super seductive Remi, the sexy intelligent Levi, and Kai the asshole who you can’t help but fall in love with search endlessly for Walker. Mori’s relationship with the guys grow as they teach her how to channel her powers and she learns who she is as a person without her job. Her life is flipped upside down in the most magical way that will have you begging to find yourself in a dream torture chamber and tied to these mages. Well… maybe not that far but seriously. Its hot.

I loved this book a whole freaking lot. Mid book I literally felt the need to scream it from the rooftops I was so enamored with Mori and her men. The whole book made me completely swoony and smiling like an idiot. The end left me with whiplash and yelling what the everloving fuck as I laid in the bath trying to put my world back together. Lucky for me the 2nd book just came out so I don’t have to wait to jump back in to this wonderfully magic world. On that note…..
