A Reverse Harem Cinderella Story. Kinda.

I have been gone for a long time. Too long. I’ve been writing reviews in my head just haven’t gotten them onto the computer so lets see how fast I can type vomit all over the keyboard. (Not sure if type vomit is a thing…)

First Impresssions by C R Jane starts things off in a completely heartbreaking way. Eva is another child, or now teen, that the foster system has failed. She has always known she was different but she could never understand why she was treated so horribly. Her current situations is with a husband and wife who are absolutely vial to her. The keep her locked in the attic in absolutely horrible conditions. The conditions aren’t the only downfall to life with the Andersons, they also submit her to constant mental and physical abuse. The physical abuse is easy because of her weird ability to heal quickly. It’s hard to show the bruises when they heal the next day. It horrid and you find yourself just rooting for this poor attic girl and completely surprised that she isn’t more effed in the head. But this is of course fiction, so don’t worry she’s fine.

Eva’s goals in life are to try and placate the Andersons to avoid the beatings and to just be able to escape. She finds her salvation one day in the form of a college pamphlet addressed to her that was discarded. She is completely awestruck by the gorgeous man on the cover, Damon Pierce, and the fact that there is a letter explaining that she has been accepted into this college full ride. Freaking lucky right?! Now she just has to figure out how to pay to get there and for school fees. Cue stealing money from the Andersons because thank god they don’t believe in banks. I mean it’s not that surprising the crazy child beaters are anti-banks. Eva is able to steal little by little enough money to make her escape.

Eva is able to get to New York and do some exploring with her newfound freedom. She is given constant stares because even in too big male clothes she is still a knock out – of course. Her beauty has always felt like a curse because it led to some unwanted sexual advances from the men in her life, like Mr. Anderson. She is finding that her beauty could be something different at college. She immediately meets a guy named Eric who gets her a bomb-ass waitress job that leads to a lot of tips. Eric is kinda a skeeze though that wants a lot more than friendship and she is just not digging what he is putting down. I don’t blame ya sista.

So I know what you are thinking… She isn’t into Eric, where is this illustrious Damon Pierce that we saw on the cover of the college pamphlet?! Well it’s coming. Damon is of course a college football superstar and he is introduced to our beautiful MC when she strolls by football practices and accidentally distracts Eric — a la football to the face. The chemistry between Eva and Damon is instantaneous. He knows that she is his and he has to have her. She knows that he is bad news and she needs to stay away. I’m over here swooning, obvi.

Damon’s pursuit of Eva has me in a total swoonfest over here. He is immediately all in. Not even in an aggressive asshole way. His plan is to win her over. He meets her at her dorm every morning to go jogging and get coffee slowly getting to know each other. It is the sweetest thing. When she finally brings her walls down she can’t help but fall head over heels for this man that worships the ground she walks on. Gahhhhhhhh ❤

We of course get introduced to some more guys, because this is a reverse harem romance!! We also have Mason the rocker and Beckham the actor who are both gorgeous and oh so swoony. They too immediately fall in love with Eva. The insta-love is almost to a degree that you know something else must be going on… Buuuut what could that be?

Have I got you hooked yet? Yes?! Good! I really enjoyed this book. It was kinda a fast read but full of swoons and had some laughs. Eva is adorable. Like we would totally be friends. Plus getting to see this girl with this horrible upbringing experience freedom and life for the first time is awesome. So I think that you should seriously go get this book. Really. It’s even Kindle Unlimited so you have no more excuses! GO! 🙂
