It doesn’t take much to get ‘Charmed by Them’… Swoon

I just finished another really amazing contemporary reverse harem romance! Who knew there were so many goodies out there in the contemporary genre?! WHO KNEW?! & why wasn’t I told?! Just kidding. I was probably told, but I’m stubborn and tend to stick to my ways. Well I’m glad I’ve decided to venture out because it lead me to find ‘Charmed by Them’ by Serena Akeroyd and lemme tell you… I’m charmed. Let’s. Get. Into. It. 😀 ❤

Charmed By Them

First of all, I LOVE that the MC is a red head. There is not a lot of love for us red heads in the world. Seriously. I’ve been overjoyed lately seeing so many leading ladies in my books with red hair because I was a self-hating ginger growing up. Even though I still don’t classify myself as a ginger other people do, my hair is AUBURN. But whatever. Red heads have it rough. A guy I work with, let’s call him Harry, well he also has red hair and this is something we bond over. #gingersunite Well we were talking about how growing up people would tell us that we didn’t have a soul, why you ask? Because we have red hair of course. That or we would be told that we bathe in the blood of our enemies and other random shit. Kids are mean. Anyway, so when Harry was younger a girl wrote down on a piece of paper ‘Harry’s soul’ and gave it to him since being a redhead he didn’t possess a soul. THIS IS REAL SHIT. Rant over. I really do like my red hair now. I wouldn’t say I love it but I am more self-appreciative of myself. Plus, I got my red hair from my dad who has passed away so I feel like I should love it. I do. I’m getting there.

BACK TO THE STORY AT HAND. Charmed By Them. Awesome. Our main character’s name is Sascha Dubois which is a really sexy name. Sascha. Very swoonworthy. Well Sascha interviews for a position to oversee housekeeping duties at a home in England. A home filled with 5 very hot and very intelligent men. Like not just intelligent, freaking Big Bang Theory intelligent but they are all smoking and not in the cute nerdy way, in the holy damn break me off a piece of that way. She is gorgeous and uber smart as well so she of course lands the job, which is live-in of course, and starts working with all these men. I saw with instead of for because they really welcome her in like family. It’s freaking adorable.

Well you are sitting there thinking, okay so we got our hottie female main character and she is living in the house with 5 super sexy men. THIS IS WHERE IT HAPPENS. We know this is reverse harem. Let’s get to the goods. You will not be disappointed. Of course since these guys are super smart, super successful, and very dedicated to their different careers they don’t have a lot of time for dating. They also are very close to each other and living together has worked really well since they were in college. What are these men to do for love?! We all need love! Well this is where Sascha comes in.. One of the guys, Devon, is very into the idea of finding the perfect woman for them all to share. Let’s be honest all the guys are into the idea Devon is just more vocal about it. Well the unspoken leader of the bunch, Sean, warns Sascha about this after signing a NDA (nondisclosure agreement) but before she signs her employment contract. See it’s not skeevy. He just kind of brings up the idea and says that this isn’t what is expected of her and she doesn’t have to take the job but it’s just there.

Talk about an indecent proposal. Snort. Just kidding. These guys are smoking, we would all say yes. I feel like the part that appeals to a lot of women about the reverse harem genre is that A. you get to experience several different adorable swoonworthy relationships in one book. B. there is this feeling of the woman being completely taken care of because inevitably some area that one guy would be lacking in another guy in the ‘harem’ would pick up the slack. Plus, women overall are amazing and I don’t find it hard to believe that one woman could make 5 men happy. Like I said. Women are awesome. Girls rule, boys… Okay well it’s probably just me doing the drooling. Ha!

I really really really enjoyed this book. It isn’t horribly long and you fall in love with the MC and all five guys so fast. They are really amazing. I can’t wait to jump into the next book and get to know these guys more. Plus you know #gingerpower

That’s just the sound of my heart. Roadie.

Talk about a beautiful cover. Wanna know what’s even more beautiful? The story. Let’s get into it

Find it here on Amazon!

We join our beautiful Lilith Tempest Goode back on the bus with her oh so gorgeous men. Her life with the men of Beauty in Lies flashed before her eyes. She was locked out of the concert venue, told by the bitchface Octavia that she was nothing but a piece of ass for the guys, and completely humiliated by her ex Kevin. This asshole took her VIP pass, license, and money set them on fire and threw them in a USPS box. What. A. Megadouche. She is left in a strange town with no money, no cell phone, and no friend or family. That is until her guys find her. Absolutely fucking terrified that they had lost her. Swoon.

The guys are ready to fire this bitch Octavia. Give her the boot boys! But of course, Lilith is a saint and decides to give the bitch a second chance. I woulda watched the bitch buuuuurn. Trying to steal Ransom, Muse, Cope, Pax, and Michael from her. Not gonna happen. Luckily all is settled. Muse asks her to continue the world part of the tour with them, swoon. Lilith and the guys only have a few more stops in North America before heading overseas. Last stop in the United States though is New York. Place of her childhood home, and where her father’s ashes currently are.

This book is a lot about surviving through grief and mourning. Lilith is able to face the fact that her family is gone. She is lucky enough to have her guys though. All of them also being a little broken in their own ways. They all have truly fucked pasts. Even Lilith. But they are all able to accept each other, it’s freaking beautiful.

“Bad things happen, people die, hearts are broken, but it’s how we walk in the rain of grief that defies us. Do we cower in the downpour and let the frigid chill soak us through? Do we grab an umbrella and fight the storm? Or do we stand tall and let our heads fall back, open our mouths and taste every fucking drop as its coolness sizzles against the heat of our tongue?” C.M. Stunich, Roadie

Jesus h christ, C M Stunich is the queen of deep. She has the power to force you into tears and rip your fucking heart out of your chest. She also has the ability to make you all swoony and giggly like a schoolgirl with a crush. Word wizard. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

We learn a lot about our guys in this book. Their pasts. Their struggles. Their blossoming love for our main character that we’ve all fell in love with. Cope is the one that is struggling the most as Lilith and the guys make their relationship more serious. He has dealt with taking care of women his entire life. Saving his grandmother from his grandfather as well as taking care of his mother. Both the women important to him have been frail. Including his former girlfriend Cara who dealt with a lot of emotional issues eventually ending her own life. Cope was devasted by losing her. So much so that he still carries enough fear to decide to end the very new relationship with Lilith and the guys.

Luckily this is short lived. Thank the fucking lord. We can’t lose Cope. He is too adorable. Plus if one of them decides they want out could it work for the rest?! WHO KNOWS?! I CAN’T TAKE THAT CHANCE!! Plus, Lilith is amazing. WHY WOULD HE LEAVE HER?! I feel like a lot of female main characters are whiney and cry a lot. The same can be said for Lilith but not in your typical way. Lilith is experiencing real fucking struggles but still is able to be a person. To love the people around her. To create and have sympathy. She is amazing. #ladycrush PLUS she is a redhead. Having auburn hair myself, I totally dig a main character with red hair. POWER TO THE GINGERS ❤😜

Another amazing thing about this book is watching all the relationships grow and morph. Especially, Random and Paxton’s relationship. There is a lot left unsaid between them. From Ransom and Pax’s ex-girlfriend falling in love to that turning into the girl and Pax’s sister dying in a car crash. There is a lot of bad blood and guilt between them. Pax treats Ransom like shit. I’ve said before that I love assholes. Love em. I love Pax, he is indeed an asshole. I hate how he treats Ransom. Can’t stand it. Luckily this is resolved in this book which turns into something so fucking hot I can’t. I just can’t, okay. Read it. It’s the most fucking swoonworthy thing you will ever read in your whole life. Swoon.

C M Stunich literally does it again. She is such an amazing author. She is able to completely create this realistic group of people and make you fall in love with them over and over. I literally cannot put the book down. All I want to do is read about this woman and her tattooed men, then read it again. It’s so good. I said it before but this time I am so series. This has become one of my all-time favorite series. I laugh, I swoon, I cry, I fall in love. These guys are just so amazing. Lilith is so amazing. It’s all amazing. Are you ready to swoon with me?

Groupie: The Story of How C M Stunich has ruined me for all other books

My heart is broken in the most hauntingly beautiful way. Just finishing Groupie by C M Stunich I find myself sitting in such raw emotions it’s hard to find words to explain them. As one never short of words, this is not a normal occurrence.

I have said before that I do not really read contemporary romances. If I do, they are mostly the standard contemporary romance of girl meets boy and falls in love, the end. No hype. Just love. I really don’t read reverse harem contemporary romances because honestly, I’ve never been able to grasp how such a relationship could survive in real life. Reverse harem with shifters? Sure. Vampires? Of course! Regular every day typical Joes and Janes. Doubt it. I’m always on the look out for good books. I live for good books. I had a lot of recommendations to read Groupie by C M Stunich because it is so freaking hot and steamy. I read the Hijinks Harem series by C M Stunich and Tate James and loved it as you can tell from my reviews of it. It was light, hilarious, and completely sexy. Why wouldn’t I love Groupie? I was worried I wouldn’t because no one would be shifting, drinking blood, or doing anything else supernatural. Boy, I was so unbelievably wrong..

Hauntingly beautiful. Hilarious. Raw. Heartbreaking. Completely sexy.
That is how I describe this amazing book. I found myself represented in Lilith, Muse, Ransom, Cope, Pax, and Michael. I too am a sad soul. I am not arrogant enough to believe that I have a singular claim to sadness. Plenty of people are sad. We are all a little sad. I have lived through things that have put me through the fucking ringer. Things I didn’t think I could survive. But I did. This love story is full of surviving through the unbearable shit that we humans have to fucking push through on a daily. Most of us, anyway. I don’t want to leave the impression that this is an unbearably sad book that will leave you sobbing in bed in the fetal position like we all were after the series finale of Sons of Anarchy. I mean what kind of soulless monster didn’t have their world completely crushed during that last scene of Jax on his motorcycle. I have finished the book only seconds ago and I am filled with a feeling of finding happiness on a rainy day. Of living through Alanis Morrisette’s ‘Ironic’ day only to find that even though the world can really fuck you up, there are some parts that are really fucking special. Like this book. It’s one of the parts that are really fucking special.

Lilith sits in her car with all her belongings ready to head to New York and be with her father. Her sick father. A buzz of a text from her stepmom ends that… ‘Lilith, I’m sorry but your father passed away this morning’… Already I fucking despise this woman. No one. No one should hear that their father has died through a text. I still remember being 13 and sitting in the hospital waiting room in my jean mini skirt and black leather hooker boots as my aunt told me my father was dead. I was dressed like a hooker when I found out my dad was dead. Yes, I know this is a fictional character and a text of her father’s death is the icing on the cake of her misery. Theatrics and all that. But fuuuuck. That shit sucks. I remember 9 months after being told my father had died sitting in the backseat of my mom’s SUV as my grandmother held my hand and my mom told me from the front passenger seat that my brother was dead. Dead. Fuck.. Those moments in time when your life just changes, those moments stick in your mind. You shouldn’t be alone with just a text in those moments, not even fictional characters. Some books just hit home. This book. It fucking hit home.

Lilith in a crazy turn of events gets a backstage pass to a concert for a band called Beauty in Lies. A band that consists of 5 gorgeously broken men. These 5 gorgeously broken men are what saves Lilith, from herself and from the dark spiraling black hole that her life turns into when she finds herself completely and utterly alone. Paxton Blackwell, Michael Luxe, Derek ‘Muse’ Muser, Ransom Riggs, and Copeland Park all with their own shit take Lilith in. They see this beautiful woman. This completely broken woman who has lost her father, has her car broken into and ransacked, left with literally nothing. No one. Not all of them are kind, but they all save her. She saves them too.

These guys are completely amazing. Lilith is this fucking badass chick that rediscovers herself and realizes that she doesn’t need to give a fuck what other people think anymore. When you have nothing left, you really have nothing left to give. Every guy is so amazingly attractive in their brokenness. I literally want to save them all. They are every bad boy that you fall desperately in love with because they are so broken, and you just want to fix them. You want to be the sun in their completely dark existence. You see that they are just as broken as you are, and it would be nice to find someone that really fucking understands. They are so raw and outrageously sexy. They have the power to completely undo you, and they definitely undo Lilith. What starts as a one-night stand with Pax, then Cope, then Muse, then Ransom turns in this amazing and beautiful relationship that had me nervously counting down the days in the two weeks that she promised she would leave after. Two weeks to figure her shit out. Two weeks on their tour bus. I felt like I wouldn’t survive if it stopped after two weeks. She is able to break down each of the men’s defenses and form her adorable little harem.

This book is too good to just be read through on a review. You need to read it. You need feel it. It isn’t just a sad fucking story that turns out to be unbelievably beautiful in the most amazing and weirdest way. It made me feel swoony and unbelievably fucking giddy like a teen with her first crush. This book has substance. It is long enough in itself to really let you feel like you know every single character. Make you feel like you can love every single character. That is the mark of an amazing author. To make you fucking care. C M Stunich made me fucking care. I really think she will make you care too. You just have to jump in… You may cry but you’ll also swoon. ❤

You know that Forbidden fruit is the tastiest!

Let me just start by saying that as you can probably tell I don’t read much other than Paranormal Romance and lately my jam has mostly been about Reverse Harem Paranormal Romances. Something about shifters, vampires, druids, and other paranormals makes me just super swoony. I don’t particularly seek out contemporary romances. They are cute, and I’ve definitely read quite a few, they just aren’t my main focus when book-seeking. When I was approached to read an ARC for a contemporary new-age romance book I was a little skeptical but willing to try it!

Find it here on Amazon!

I started Forbidden by Amelia Gates really knowing nothing about it. I didn’t seek it out and read a description, I just jumped in. The cover is of course super sexy. I mean swoon! He kinda looks likes Silas from Weeds. Super hot. Overall, I really enjoyed the book. It only took me a couple of days to read and I’ve been reading it as much as I can. The night before last I really didn’t want to put it down, but I knew if I didn’t get some sleep I’d be a zombie. #Adulting

This story starts of with Kim, a 25 year old super smart woman that was able to graduate high school and college suuuuper early and is now a teacher. She is the guardian of her niece, Shannon, who’s mother also Kim’s sister was killed in an airplane accident. A 25-year-old taking care of a 17-year-old, boy that sounds exhausting. Kim is a quirky chick that says fuck a lot. #SoulSisters? Her niece is adorable and takes care of Kim because Kim tends to be a hot mess. Again, #SoulSisters?! She is sort of newly single after her fiancé was too killed in the accident that killed her sister. Her sister who seems to be a mega cunt that was sleeping with her fiancé. Kim is overall a freaking saint, so she doesn’t hold a grudge against her sister. Maybe not #SoulSisters… 😉

We also have Zayne. He’s the swoony guy on the cover. So obviously he is going to be our man-crush right?! A sexy man to come in and sweep our MC off her feet. Well problem, he is a student at the school she teaches at. He’s 18 so settle your jets but still. Definitely forbidden (aka the title! It’s all coming together now isn’t it?!). Well of course forbidden fruit is the tastiest. Ask any high school girl that decides to go after the bad boy. Bad boys are fun. Being bad is fun. Ask young Julia, she’ll tell you. Adult Julia works in insurance and is pretty boring. Young Julia, whew she was scary! 😊

bad boys.gif

So Zayne sets his sights on Kim and HAS to have her. Of course, I mean she is pretty swell. Their relationship is adorable and super sexy. She is literally a woman after my own heart as she loves old 80s romance movies and John Hughes! I mean who doesn’t love John freaking Hughes?! My husband that’s who. He’s lucky I love him so much or I would leave him for having such bad tastes. But seriously. Sixteen Candles. When they lean over the cake to kiss. Ahhhhh ❤ 80s 90s & early 00s love movies are the best. Anything Molly Ringwald. Completely unrealistic but the absolute best. That is where Julia Swoons started swooning. Seriously!

thats the boy.gif

Zayne’s father is the Mayor and a super big douche. The bad boys always have douchey parents. It’s part of the criteria to get their bad boy card. That and tattoos, cigarettes, and Northern Lights but I digress. Bad boys are the shit. I think that this story could have been edging on creepy if Zayne wasn’t 18 and Kim wasn’t so young. Also if it was a man teacher and a female student.. That shit is always in headlines. But there isn’t the ick factor. I honestly thought their relationship was really adult and super cute. I wanted them to succeed. I was really rooting for these kids the entire time!

bad boy.gif

There are obviously some twists and turns and things must get completely fucked up. What is a story without a little conflict?! Perfect. Just kidding, kinda 😉 I really enjoyed this story. The author writes really well and all the characters, minus Mayor fuckwad, are super likable. The sex scenes are super hot and not over the top. Some definite ‘womb-clenching’ goodness! Ha. I love that phrase. I do suggest that you all grab a copy as it is definitely worth it. Plus, it’s a Kindle Unlimited book so bonus points! Special thanks to the author for the ARC and for pushing me in the direction of contemporary! There were no fangs or shifting but I still loved it!

Keep swooning dolls ❤
