Get ready for the steam. Screw You. Screw Me.

There is this author named Serena Akeroyd. She is seriously a writing goddess. A wizard of words if you will. Everything she writes is seriously gold. She could write obituaries and I would read every single one. I have read several of her books and have never been disappointed so when she came out with a new series that isn’t reverse harem *gasp* I knew I needed to get it multiple guys or not. Let’s get into this amaaaaazingly dark and steamy contemporary romance. But let’s get something straight first… Finn is MINE ❤ *wipes away drool*

Find book 1, Screw You, here on Amazon!

These books are about a woman name Aoife (pronounced Ee-fah) who owns a bakery that a large company is trying to buy out. Being a fiery Irish woman she has refused all attempts out of principle and respect to her mom’s memory. That is until the sexiest man on earth walks in her door, Finn. ❤️ Finn is seriously the love of my life. I love me some bad boys and he fits this criteria perfectly. He swoops in determined to have Aoife. She’s gorgeous, thick, Irish, and everything he has every wanted in a woman. He can’t resist her charms and he knows that he has to get her to give up her place but he also knows he has to have her. He just doesn’t know if one will stop the other.

Finn and Aoife’s relationship is fucking electric. I mean their attraction to each other… I’m swooning just thinking about it. I love Irish guys. Seriously if I could get an Irish man to talk to me all day. Done. I’d be done. I try to get my husband to talk Irish to me. Sometimes he tries. Most of the time he tells me to stop being a weirdo. I need Serena to get this on audio and find the sexiest sounding Irish man in the world to narrate it. Done. I’d be done.

Okay, okay. Back to the story, because its a really good one. I just want to lick Finn’s freaking face. I’ll calm down. So Finn is part of an Irish gang called the Five Points. It is lead by his pseudo father who is an absolute nutcase. Like a nutcase with a heart of gold. Finn isn’t the kneecapping kinda Irish gangster though, more like behind the scenes business kinda gangster. So he is super loaded. Not only Irish. Not only a bad boy. Not only sexy as all hell. Rich. Dear lord save us all. Aoife was raised to fear the Five Points. They rule the city. They are scary as hell but keep shit in line. She never thought she’d end up with a Points man. Until Finn that is. I mean did you read all that. Danger smanger. I want me some Finn in my life. The danger just makes him all the more sexy I swear ❤

If I haven’t sold you yet I don’t know what is wrong with you. Who doesn’t love a bad boy?!?!?! I mean, sure, you don’t marry them. That would never turn out well. BUT these are the guys you have the high school, college, early twenties flings with. They are dark, dirty, and fuuuucking hot as hell. I mean even your good boys are a bit bad. So are you ready for some Finn in your life?!

Are you swooning with me? ❤

“Do you want a lemonade?” Markus asked as we wandered up to a vending cart.

“Sure,” I said with a smile.

Markus was so courteous. He actually made the effort to think of my needs and that earned him an enormous amount of brownie points in my book.

He bought one for me and one for himself. We kept walking until we came up to a secluded area with a little bridge. Markus had a giddy smile on his face and his cocoa-colored eyes sparkled with mischief.

“What?” I laughed and stared at him.

“Nothing.” He shook his head but continued to hold my gaze.

“What are you thinking about?” I asked in a hushed voice.

Markus took a step closer to me. We were almost nose to nose. I could feel his body heat and smell the scent of his masculinity as it enveloped me.

“I am thinking…” he trailed off, keeping me in excruciating suspense. The edges of his lips curled into a handsome smile that melted me from the inside out. “How much I want to kiss you right now.”

“What’s stopping you then?” I asked and boldly kept his gaze locked with mine.

Markus chuckled and gave me a smile filled with a depth of admiration as big as the ocean. He took my head in his hands and pulled me gently closer to him. He softly pressed his lips to mine.

I was hit with an electric jolt of pleasure. I was instantly ignited with a flame of desire that was hard to resist. It only intensified, the more fervently Markus kissed me. The sensation spread through my veins like wildfire.

I melted into his arms and moaned out quietly. When Markus pulled away a few seconds later, the touch of his lips on mine left a lingering sensation that had me craving more.

I gave him a sideways grin. “Are you good at everything?”

Markus’s eyes twinkled and he gave me an amused smile. “Is that your way of telling me that you enjoyed the kiss?”

“That’s an understatement,” I whispered as I seductively trailed the outline of his abs through his shirt with the tip of my index finger.

In reality, shivers of pleasure had made me tremble and tingle from head to toe.

Julia Swoons over Valentine’s Day

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!

Who doesn’t love Valentine’s day?!?! I mean my name is Julia Swoons. It’s a given that I LOVE Valentine’s Day. IT’S A DAY OF SWOONS PEOPLE. COME ON!!!!

I have always loved Valentine’s day. I mean not only have I celebrated it my whole life as a day of love — but it’s also a day of presents. I mean come on. Who doesn’t love presents. & candy. & flowers. Must I go on?! Plus think back to those grade school days and making Valentine’s boxes and filling out all your Valentine’s cards. Putting your all into that one card for the boy (or girl) that has captured your heart. Making sure to dot the ‘i’s with hearts, give it a good luck kiss, and maybe a spritz of perfume. I’m a romantic okay… I’ve been boy crazy pretty much my entire life. I have had more crushes in my life than most people. I LOVE LOVE!! ❤❤❤

On this Valentiniest of days I would like to share with you some of the loves of my life. Just slightly out of reach because its hard to do more than one at once. I mean it isn’t impossible but there are just so many moving parts and it can get super confusing. You start to forget people’s names and suddenly you’ve jumped into something with a bunch of people you don’t know. Okay. Settle down there. Julia Swoons is married and will not be acting out any of her favorite reverse harems. [darn.] I, of course, am talking about my never ending TBR list. You have quite the dirty mind… I like it 😉

Okay so there have been A LOT of good books to come out lately. I don’t know what to read next. All these amazing authors are putting out these amazing books and I have to do things like work, parent, and sleep when I could be spending all my time reading. It’s the pits man. So how about you take a look into the books that I will be reading in the next few weeks/months. I mean as long as I don’t get distracted by some other amazing books. That happens a lot. The One Click Buy option on Amazon will be the death of me. For realz.

This book looks fucking amazing. It’s by Lana Kole who wrote Illusion of Escape and Illusion of Death which are both AMAZING. So, of course, I had to one click buy this bitch.. er pussy? I digress. Also, who doesn’t love cats?

This beauty is by Serena Akeroyd who I am COMPLETELY obsessed with. I love her TriAlpha Chronicles, her Quintessence series, and her Kingdom of Verona series. AMAZING freaking books so I know that this one is obviously going to be great. Gahhh I can’t wait for it.

Take a look at this cover. TALK ABOUT STEAM. Now this book is also by Serena Akeroyd, same as above, but this one is NOT reverse harem. But from what I’ve heard it is one of her STEAMIEST books yet. If you have read any of Serena’s book you know that she knows how to bring the steam so if this is the steamiest on then you better bring an extra pair of undies and read it in private 😉

This is the second book in Auryn Hadley’s Dark Orchid Trilogy. The first book was sooooo good and soooooo hot. Plus the main character is a woman of color which you sadly do not see a lot in the reverse harem genre. Auryn Hadley has also written the Demon’s Muse series which is SUPER awesome. She is great at writing super good stories and super hot scenes. I can’t wait for this one.

This is the third book in the Heart Hassle series by Raven Kennedy. The first two, Signs of Cupidity and Bonds of Cupidity are hilarious, steamy, and super swoony. Emelle is hilarious and watching her learn how to live life as a ‘real girl’ when she has been an invisible cupid is so heartwarming. I can’t wait to jump back into the story with her suuuper sexy guys and finally figure out what happens to Okot!

I have heard a lot of good things about this book. It is a contemporary book about a girl and some musicians. I have previously read The Fated Wings series by C R Jane and while I wasn’t head over heels for it I thought it had a good premise and I liked a lot of the characters. I’m hoping that I will really love this book.

Water by Helen Scott looks really good. The cover is gorgeous and the blurb really has me wanting to jump in. I have read the Cerberus series by Helen Scott and it’s one of my favs. Super hot. Super good. FMC is a badass and the guys are sexy, broody, and also badass. I just know that I will love this one.

Now tell me… How on earth am I suppose to pick what to read next?! HOW?! There are so many freaking books in my library that I need to read. So many coming out soon that I know I will buy. Will I ever catch up? No… But I guess that is part of the fun. How is your TBR list looking? Did you find any here that are you going to add to yours?! Let me know! 🙂

Hey! Before I get outta here I just wanted to say again Happy Valentine’s Day! Thanks for taking the time out to read my blog. I love you guys! Find love today. Find a sexy man or lady and buy them coffee. Buy them dinner. Take them home. EXPERIENCE THE LOVE OF THIS MAGICAL DAY. Just know that I will of course be swooning ❤

Full heart. Sobs. Desperately in love with Rotten Girl.

You know that feeling you get when you are under water too long. The feeling like your lungs are going to burst but you keep pushing through until you finally are able to rise out of the water. You gasp frantically for air that your body so badly needed. That’s what I feel right now. Like I’ve just come out of a swimming pool after doing down and backs without giving my body the chance to breathe. My heart aches and I wipe the tears from my eyes as I finish such an amazing book that I inhaled in two days. A book about a girl, three boys, and the mafia. A book that has given me such an aching hangover and has left my chest aching. A book called Rotten Girl by Ivy Fox.

Find it here on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!

This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I just couldn’t turn it down after reading the blurb. It sounded so amazing and dark. Plus the cover. Gah. It’s so freaking beautiful. I couldn’t wait to jump in and once I saw those red locks on my kindle screen I was hooked. I now feel the need to track down every single one of Ivy Fox’s books and devour them. To send her endless messages begging for book two. Ask her how she could make me fall in love with these characters and then crush my heart? Ask her how she got such an amazing story out of her head and into this book in front of me.

It’s like falling in love for the first time. Except you are watching it happen. Watching a girl named Selene fall in love with these completely innocent boys that have been raised in this world of chaos and heartbreak. This world of lies and death. You feel the teenage angst and the fluttering of first love. You feel the absolute heat as Ivy Fox takes you down Selene’s path to adulthood and the handhold ing turns to kissing, touching, and some of the most desperate heart wrenching love I’ve ever set my eyes on. It’s like watching the Notebook and knowing in your heart that this story is going to crush you. That this world your beloved characters live in will not allow such a love to exist. No matter how much is crushing your heart. You are left gasping for air, staring at (what the fuck is his name – I asked my husband and he knew it was Ryan Gosling but I for the love of me couldn’t remember. Boy do I love this man) stare at Rachel McAdams in the rain trying to grasp at their love story that is just out of reach.

We start our story with Selene who is just a little girl. She lives in the mafia life full force. Her father, the Butcher, is just as terrifying in the face of his family as he is to his enemies taking his wrath out on his daughter and wife behind closed doors. Selene’s only sanctuary are her three closest friends. Giovanni, Dominic, and Vincent. Come on. Are you already salivating over those gorgeous iltalian names? Gahhhhhh. I can’t. I’m much too swoony for this. You see 4 innocent children with this exceptional bond. This growing love as they are thrown into the violent world of the Chicago mafia. They hold onto their innocence when it comes to Selene but they are so delicious and dark. I just can’t. I CAN’T OKAY. #Swoon

This is a reverse harem story without even the conversation of it being a reverse harem. It’s just so fucking natural that there is no question that Selene wouldn’t have these three men. I’ve finished the book and I still can’t stop replaying their story in my head. I feel the uncontrollable urge to flip back to page one and start over again. It’s like watching all the seasons of Friends and then that last episode when Rachel gets off the plane. When they all set their keys down and walk out of the apartment and you are sobbing thinking fuck I already miss them so fucking much. Cue replaying the entire series again. That’s me. Right now. [I guess I should say spoilers but for real, if you haven’t watched Friends by now I don’t know what the fuck you’ve been doing with your life. Finish this post, buy Ivy’s book, then go fucking binge watch Friends. You’ll thank me.]

How can one book contain so fucking much. I literally had to immediately start typing these feelings while they are still raw in my heart. How can this book be so fucking swoony… and heartbreaking.. and sweet… and sexy… and so fucking tragic all at the same time? Seriously. Get this book. Devour it. Come back here and tell me about how I’m supposed to put the pieces of my heart back together. Tell me how I can manage to swoon again before the next book comes out?

Please, just swoon with me.

We are back. We are swooning. We are Broken.

There are a lot of stories out there that I am obsessed with. The characters are so amazing that I feel like I know these people. I care about these characters. This series is definitely one of those for me. Broken is the second book in the Her Reverse Genus series by Adell Ryan. The first book is called Perfect (find the review here!) and I love it so much. It’s a book I can just go back and re-read over and over and over. I will also be doing this with this amazing sequel. When I saw the title for this book my immediate thoughts were OMG WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ADELL?! Broken?! Please don’t destroy my loves. Please….

Find it here on Amazon!

IF YOU HAVEN’T READ BOOK #1 GRAB IT NOW!!!

I was one of the lucky ones that got to beta read this book. Talk about fangirling all over the fucking place. I remember the exact moment I was asked to be a Beta. I was in the car on my way to a wedding in Kentucky and I received the message. Cue fangirl screaming and giggling uncontrollably. You would think I was a young girl talking to her first crush. So freaking stoked.

I started the book and immediately began falling in love again. All these characters are so well written that I feel like they are friends. It’s like coming back to Hogwarts, you know it’s home. Plus, I was immediately in full swoon mode over Jax. That man… Whew. He’s mine ladies….BACK OFF 😉 & Tobias… Gah he is so swoony. Strong silent types man. I love em. Then Bram with their friendship/blooming love. Last but not least our sexy italian man, Julian. Back with Thess and the guys and back in love.

Thess is completely distressed over the events from the end of the last book. Her dad had been attacked and was badly hurt, possibly dead, and her mother was missing. She has come out of her depression phase thanks to Tobias and his errr magical fingers. #Swoon She realizes that the guys were really worried about her and she isn’t going to accomplish anything by moping around. She has had her time to cope, it’s time to be kickass Thess again. Her and the guys just have to come up with a plan and put it into action. The evil Zinna has framed Thess for the attack on her father and has an alert out for her making it almost impossible for her to be seen in public.

Another situation that Thess is trying to figure out is her relationship with the guys. She still isn’t totally sure how this whole thing is going to work with her and 3 guys. Aren’t they going to get jealous? How is she going to juggle them all? How can she deal with experiencing such happy things as her relationship with each of them develops when so much bad is happening in her life? Although the last book is truly a ‘medium burn’ there isn’t much sexy time for Thess and the guys. The relationship building in Perfect is amazing. Seriously great. I am totally in love with these guys and now I’m ready to get to the business. Be in love with them Thess! LET’S GET IT ON! Well, you’ll be happy to hear that shit really heats up in Broken. Like almost immediately we are in full swoon mode with some SUPER sexy scenes. What else does this mean?! MORE relationship development between Thess and the guys! We get to learn more about their stories and how they came to be on the run. We get to fall in love with the guys with Thess. I love this about the series. The love doesn’t feel like insta-love. Granted the time frame isn’t incredibly long but we don’t go from ‘hi what’s your name?’ to ‘You are the love of my life I will die without you’. There is a more natural buildup in the relationships and it’s amazing.

Another element of the first book we get to explore at a deeper level is the government and their involvement in their blood draw/DNA study. We’ve seen that the people doing this aren’t afraid to snatch people out of their homes, force them to participate in the blood draw, and even use violence to influence rule breakers to comply. Something you wouldn’t expect from those who have been entrusted to protect us. We get to see a lot more of this in the capture and kidnapping of Thess’s mother as well as NABs continuation of seeking Thess and vilifying her. Plus a lot more stuff that I wouldn’t want to spoil for you. But it’s good. & horrifying. & will be sure to piss you off…

Perfect was amazing. Really and truly amazing. Broken? Even freaking better. Out of the two Broken is definitely my favorite. I seriously can’t wait for the 3rd book and I will be tirelessly stalking Adell Ryan until she releases it. All the characters are so amazingly in-depth and the story/world building is so perfect that I have been dealing with serious book hangover since I finished it. I spent my time swooning, giggling like a school girl, laughing out loud, and wanting to scream and cry. The story is so immersive you can’t help but become emotionally attached. This is a definite must read. It’s made for contemporary romance lovers. It’s made for sci-fi/paranormal romance lovers. Honestly, amazingly written stories are made for everyone. Now leave me alone so I can get back to swooning over Jax ❤

Keep swooning dolls! 😘

Falling in love again with The Divorcee

Let’s take a break from Reverse Harem, shall we? I just finished a book called The Divorcee by Treena Wynes which is a contemporary romance, not a reverse harem, and a standalone book. It is not my usual jam, but we all have to venture out every once and awhile don’t we?! Plus that cover is to die for! Let’s get into it!

Allie Madison is in a horrible marriage. Her husband Steve is manipulative, grumpy, lazy, and seems to want nothing to do with her anymore. He goes to work and spends the rest of his time in front of the TV ignoring his wife and their two children and avoiding helping her with housework or the kids at all costs. I feel like this is a typical American household set up, maybe not in this day in age although it is still probably the norm. It makes me feel very lucky to have such an amazing husband that not only cooks, but cleans, and is an amazing dad. Allie is not so lucky, but she isn’t ready to give up on her marriage. She prepares a night of excitement for New Years Eve by buying some very sexy lingerie and presenting herself on a platter to her husband. Every man’s dream right?! Well not Steve’s. He is obviously way past the point of return because he sees this as an opportunity to fight and put her down completely humiliating Allie. Not okay. She promises herself that she will give it one more year then she will leave. The whole time I’m yelling at my Kindle, ‘this bitch doesn’t deserve one more year! Kick his ass to the curb!’.

kill him

A little over one year later Allie has really hit her max with Steve. They are no longer sleeping in the same bed and their conversations always end in a fight. Allie has finally had enough and has been preparing to leave him. Luckily for Allie she has a wonderful support system, as she is a counselor at a local school and is surrounded by coworkers that are very supportive of her. Namely her friend Leah who is a teacher and Drew who is the Vice Principal at the school. This also gives her the opportunity to meet Marcus, a local therapist. A tragic accident happens at Allie’s school so she enlists the help of a local therapist to help counsel the students during this tragedy. Marcus is very good looking at the spark between them is immediate. She can’t act on her feelings because she hasn’t left Steve officially and she is unsure if someone like Marcus would want to jump into something with a newly separated woman.

attractive.gif

Allie has a very difficult time separating herself from Steve has he is very persistent in his attempts to get Allie back as well as his attempts to sabotage her relationship with Marcus. He stalks Allie, hires a private investigator, harasses Marcus through phone calls and  even coming to his house. Allie also gets the time to explore her newfound single life. She goes on some dates and meets some very interesting and gorgeous men. It really shows that a woman leaving her husband isn’t left to be a single mom/cat lady for the rest of her life. We are hot! We can get back out there 😉

sex it up.gif

Allie is a very intelligent woman and has more means than most women in her situation. She is able to line up a rental house for herself and her children while she is in the planning stages of leaving Steve. Most women in her situation are unable to do this as they do not have the funds. I found it surprising as a school counselor at a public school would be able to afford such things, but it doesn’t distract from the story. I did find some things very uncomfortable and I believe that they would be very triggering to a woman that has gone through a situation such as this. Steve is very psychologically abusive and although he isn’t physically abusive to her or the children the damage is just as severe. I spent some time during and after college working at a domestic violence center in a town near my home. I spent a lot of time working with women going through very similar situations as this but sadly most do not have the means to leave their husbands nor are they able to break the abusive cycles they experience with their husbands or partners. There are a few situations Allie experiences with Steve that made me particularly uncomfortable. One visit she has at her old house with Steve he attempts to rape her in hopes that she will come back to him as well as an attempt to put her down and undermine her efforts. There is another situation that he blackmails her into having sex with him in order to sign the separation papers and come upon an agreement for visitation with the children. These situations could be very triggering to someone that potentially has PTSD from living through a horrible situation such as this.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I think that there are a lot of things that happen behind closed doors in the homes of abused women that the overall population doesn’t realize. This book is meant to be light and romantic but it also brings a lot of light to these situations. Allie is a very strong and intelligent woman and I really enjoyed reading her story. I fell in love with the men she fell in love with and constantly rooted against the evil Steve. There are some very steamy scenes in this book that had me glued to the pages waiting to see what would happen next. Plus the end, #swoon, to die for. I really loved how it turned out and I felt that all loose ends were tied. I would definitely recommend this book!

loves it.gif

**I was given a copy of this book from the author but was under no requirement to leave a review. These are my honest thoughts on the book and I truly appreciate Treena Wynes for giving me the opportunity to read her wonderful book.**

How do you find books & Julia Swoons is a Book Whore

I feel like everytime I finish a book series and go through the inevitable book hangover I have trouble figuring out what to read next. I always have a huuuuge list of book in my Kindle library and TBR list but I always think in my head, ‘God, nothing is EVER going to be that good.” Then I inevitably find another AMAZING book. There are just some really awesome ones out there. It’s made me question myself… Am I a book whore? OR am I just really good at finding good books?!

book feels.gif

When I am looking for the next AMAZING book to read I feel like I need to go to my favorite Facebook groups and make a post so I can get the scoop on the current HOTTEST books out there. As you have probably can tell I am really into fast burns. I do have quite a few medium burns I love but most of the time I’m like ‘HEY! LET’S GET TO THE BUSINESS!’ It’s why I had to get out of the YA book game. I would read and read these amazing books but still feel like well that was good and all but I really wanted more love. I want books to be 90% swoon and 10% story/action. Books like Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, Premontion series, etc are AMAZING books. Seriously, I love these freaking books but I always felt they were tame. There were plenty of parts where I’m creepily giggling at my desk at work and biting my lip like I’m the adorable MC but I still felt like I couldn’t deal with all the fade to black scenes. Thus moving onto romance and eventually reverse harem because what is not to love about a TON of guys. Srsly.

sex booksex austin powers

But back to the posibility of me being a book whore. I love a lot of the books I find. Like really love them. Some are okay and I’m fine with dropping off and not reading more of the series but most I fall desperately in love with. I honestly think I have been really good at finding some really amazing authors. This has a lot to do with my Facebook group stalkdom (new word) and befriending a lot of the authors in the genre. It’s probably my favorite part. I get to be all fangirly and feel like I’m actually part of something great. It’s amazing to talk to someone who wrote something truly remarkable that you love to pieces.

stalker mode.gif

Sooooooo the question is how do you all find your favorite books? Do you scour Goodreads? Do you question Facebook groups? Do you go with Amazon recs? Let me know!

Keep swooning dolls ❤

Always,

Julia
