We are back. We are swooning. We are Broken.

There are a lot of stories out there that I am obsessed with. The characters are so amazing that I feel like I know these people. I care about these characters. This series is definitely one of those for me. Broken is the second book in the Her Reverse Genus series by Adell Ryan. The first book is called Perfect (find the review here!) and I love it so much. It’s a book I can just go back and re-read over and over and over. I will also be doing this with this amazing sequel. When I saw the title for this book my immediate thoughts were OMG WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ADELL?! Broken?! Please don’t destroy my loves. Please….

IF YOU HAVEN’T READ BOOK #1 IT IS ON SALE FOR $0.99!!!

I was one of the lucky ones that got to beta read this book. Talk about fangirling all over the fucking place. I remember the exact moment I was asked to be a Beta. I was in the car on my way to a wedding in Kentucky and I received the message. Cue fangirl screaming and giggling uncontrollably. You would think I was a young girl talking to her first crush. So freaking stoked.

I started the book and immediately began falling in love again. All these characters are so well written that I feel like they are friends. It’s like coming back to Hogwarts, you know it’s home. Plus, I was immediately in full swoon mode over Jax. That man… Whew. He’s mine ladies….BACK OFF 😉 & Tobias… Gah he is so swoony. Strong silent types man. I love em. Then Bram with their friendship/blooming love. Last but not least our sexy italian man, Julian. Back with Thess and the guys and back in love.

Thess is completely distressed over the events from the end of the last book. Her dad had been attacked and was badly hurt, possibly dead, and her mother was missing. She has come out of her depression phase thanks to Tobias and his errr magical fingers. #Swoon She realizes that the guys were really worried about her and she isn’t going to accomplish anything by moping around. She has had her time to cope, it’s time to be kickass Thess again. Her and the guys just have to come up with a plan and put it into action. The evil Zinna has framed Thess for the attack on her father and has an alert out for her making it almost impossible for her to be seen in public.

Another situation that Thess is trying to figure out is her relationship with the guys. She still isn’t totally sure how this whole thing is going to work with her and 3 guys. Aren’t they going to get jealous? How is she going to juggle them all? How can she deal with experiencing such happy things as her relationship with each of them develops when so much bad is happening in her life? Although the last book is truly a ‘medium burn’ there isn’t much sexy time for Thess and the guys. The relationship building in Perfect is amazing. Seriously great. I am totally in love with these guys and now I’m ready to get to the business. Be in love with them Thess! LET’S GET IT ON! Well, you’ll be happy to hear that shit really heats up in Broken. Like almost immediately we are in full swoon mode with some SUPER sexy scenes. What else does this mean?! MORE relationship development between Thess and the guys! We get to learn more about their stories and how they came to be on the run. We get to fall in love with the guys with Thess. I love this about the series. The love doesn’t feel like insta-love. Granted the time frame isn’t incredibly long but we don’t go from ‘hi what’s your name?’ to ‘You are the love of my life I will die without you’. There is a more natural buildup in the relationships and it’s amazing.

Another element of the first book we get to explore at a deeper level is the government and their involvement in their blood draw/DNA study. We’ve seen that the people doing this aren’t afraid to snatch people out of their homes, force them to participate in the blood draw, and even use violence to influence rule breakers to comply. Something you wouldn’t expect from those who have been entrusted to protect us. We get to see a lot more of this in the capture and kidnapping of Thess’s mother as well as NABs continuation of seeking Thess and vilifying her. Plus a lot more stuff that I wouldn’t want to spoil for you. But it’s good. & horrifying. & will be sure to piss you off…

Perfect was amazing. Really and truly amazing. Broken? Even freaking better. Out of the two Broken is definitely my favorite. I seriously can’t wait for the 3rd book and I will be tirelessly stalking Adell Ryan until she releases it. All the characters are so amazingly in-depth and the story/world building is so perfect that I have been dealing with serious book hangover since I finished it. I spent my time swooning, giggling like a school girl, laughing out loud, and wanting to scream and cry. The story is so immersive you can’t help but become emotionally attached. This is a definite must read. It’s made for contemporary romance lovers. It’s made for sci-fi/paranormal romance lovers. Honestly, amazingly written stories are made for everyone. Now leave me alone so I can get back to swooning over Jax ❤

Keep swooning dolls! 😘

Super stoked to be supernatural. Dannan.

My biggest goal for myself right now is to just go through my current TBR list and read those books. Goal seems like too strong a word. Like if I succeed I’m accomplishing something great when all I’m doing is showing minor restraint that most people have. I have a problem where I continually buy new books (a ‘problem’ I’m not planning to stop) or I skim through Kindle Unlimited and/or Audible Romance Package looking for my next read/listen when I have a TON of books that I’ve already bought, borrowed, or won. I mean a TON. I know they all won’t be amazing but I have A LOT that I know will be. This is one. I knew it’d be good. I’ve read the first two books in the series already and loved them. I think I mostly didn’t want to start because I knew once I did it’d be over. Well I started and it’s over. Now back to stalking her Facebook page for the next book in the series…

If you are like me you finished Supay and Leyak and you were ready for some more adventures and sexy times with Riley. Then you see book #3 and you are like who the eff is Jen?! Roan?! Alexander?! WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! I WANT RILEY! I WANT ELIAS! I WANT ANTHONY! I WANT AXO! I don’t know why. I always do this.. I have read several series where they switch up characters between books and I always love it. I start off thinking I don’t get a crap about them and end in loving them. No difference here. I don’t know why I continue to surprise myself with this shit. Plus it’s L A Boruff so I knew it’d be good.

Well Jen is Riley’s cousin, see the connection… Riley isn’t gone 😊 Jen is also completely human. Or so she thinks.*Insert evil laugh* When Riley went into the portal to the land of the Sarkany she set something into action. Apparently when she did this it activated the Sarkany gene in Jen and potentially other members of Riley’s family. Jen is walking down the courthouse steps when her life changed forever. How awesome to have such an earth shattering moment. I can only imagine mine would be so much duller since I’m not a fictional character. Julia was sitting in her recliner eating cheesecake when her life changed forever. Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. Well Jen’s walk turns into a fall and right before she hits the ground… she doesn’t. She is frozen mid-air and has sprouted purple scales and wings.

Unlike a lot of stories where something like this happens to the main character she isn’t completely terrified. At first she is very skeptical. She just thinks that some crowd magician has tricked her. That this is all a stunt. Then after she is approached by a strange man who is angered by her scaly appearance she realizes this isn’t a stunt. Something about her has changed and she has no control of it. Sure she is freaked out that she can’t change herself back but overall she is pretty stoked. She has become a supernatural creature just like from her books! This would be me. Like if I’m walking down the street and I see a vampire, I’m probably begging him to turn me. I would totally be like OMG THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! TAKE ME EDWARD!

The strange man that is angered by Jen’s scaly appearance. His name is Roan. He is Dannan (#booktitle) or fae. He is also part of the Unseen government that we have seen in Supay and Leyak. He thinks that Jen is breaking the law by showing herself to the humans. That is until he realizes she has no idea what the fuck is going on. He is able to get her away from the public eye and help her shift back. So not only has Jen changed into a dragon shifter but she also now has the help of a very sexy fairy. I’m telling you. This is the shit I dream about. Don’t lie. We are all dreaming about it. She gets the sexy stranger’s number and heads back home to decompress after a very weird and stressful day. I decide that I am really going to like Jen when she does this in the bath with a vanilla scented bath bomb. #soulsisters There is nothing I love more than the bath.. If you are a #juliaswooner then you already know this 😁

Soooo now that Jen has met the sexy Roan we are all geared up for some sexy times. Especially since he is at her apartment the next morning. Bow chicka wow wow. Much to my dismay he is not there for sexy times. No, he and a bunch of goons snatch Jen up and teleport her to a cell. What. The. Fuck. Apparently Jen has broken an Unseen law by showing herself and head of the Unseen government, Alexander, is not buying that she was oblivious to her abilities. She is locked up in a room and left for a days by herself. She is brought food and left to relieve herself in a bucket. How the fuck am I supposed to fall in love with these guys when they are doing this to my girl. I just determined we were soul sisters! This isn’t how our paranormal experience is supposed to go! She is met with disbelief until they find her connection to the Unseen world. Riley.

After discovering that Jen is hiding nothing she is moved to Alexander’s home. He fills her in on the Unseen and the danger the Leyak (shapeshifters) are presenting to the Sarkany. He moves from captor to protector and allows Jen to stay with him to stay safe. Jen has lived her life and knows that the only person she can count on is herself but the more time she spends with Alexander and Roan the more she begins to trust them. She isn’t completely ready to give up her old life but understands that she has to take precautions now that everything has changed. One thing she gets to keep from her old life is Riley. Jen’s transformation to Sarkany creates the opportunity for Jen and Riley to reconnect. Now that Jen is ‘in the know’ Riley is able to fill her in on how much her life has changed, Michael’s death, as well as her newborn twins. She also gets to see Riley’s new lifestyle with 3 men.

Like mostly everyone Jen always thought that she would have a monogamous relationship. She hadn’t found the one yet but never thought that it would be more than one. Alexander and Roan approach Jen with the idea of being in a relationship with both of them. It isn’t unheard of in the Unseen world and as both men lead very busy lives it just makes sense. Jen is attracted to both men but isn’t totally sold on the idea. That is until she meets Doryu, a Sarkany man that Alexander brings in to teach her a bit about her people. She finds herself just as attracted to Doryu as she is to Roan and Alexander and begins exploring the idea of having a polygamous relationship. Who wouldn’t when surrounded by such sexy men?! Plus a girl has needs ya know… Why not fulfill them with these guys she has at her disposal…

I loved this book a lot. Jen is awesome. I love having a chubby main character that can think for herself and isn’t content just sitting around. Jen is thrown into the Unseen world and wants to help people that could potentially be experiencing exactly what she had. The men she has are completely swoonworthy. Like really. I just want to pull Doryu straight out of the pages and marry him. L A Boruff has such a way of writing that I am able to fall madly in love with whatever character she creates. & the sex scenes. Soooo steamy. The book ends with me beginning for more and ready to flip back to page one and restart. I swear you’ll want to too. Now come on. Swoon with me ❤

Falling in love again with The Divorcee

Let’s take a break from Reverse Harem, shall we? I just finished a book called The Divorcee by Treena Wynes which is a contemporary romance, not a reverse harem, and a standalone book. It is not my usual jam, but we all have to venture out every once and awhile don’t we?! Plus that cover is to die for! Let’s get into it!

Allie Madison is in a horrible marriage. Her husband Steve is manipulative, grumpy, lazy, and seems to want nothing to do with her anymore. He goes to work and spends the rest of his time in front of the TV ignoring his wife and their two children and avoiding helping her with housework or the kids at all costs. I feel like this is a typical American household set up, maybe not in this day in age although it is still probably the norm. It makes me feel very lucky to have such an amazing husband that not only cooks, but cleans, and is an amazing dad. Allie is not so lucky, but she isn’t ready to give up on her marriage. She prepares a night of excitement for New Years Eve by buying some very sexy lingerie and presenting herself on a platter to her husband. Every man’s dream right?! Well not Steve’s. He is obviously way past the point of return because he sees this as an opportunity to fight and put her down completely humiliating Allie. Not okay. She promises herself that she will give it one more year then she will leave. The whole time I’m yelling at my Kindle, ‘this bitch doesn’t deserve one more year! Kick his ass to the curb!’.

kill him

A little over one year later Allie has really hit her max with Steve. They are no longer sleeping in the same bed and their conversations always end in a fight. Allie has finally had enough and has been preparing to leave him. Luckily for Allie she has a wonderful support system, as she is a counselor at a local school and is surrounded by coworkers that are very supportive of her. Namely her friend Leah who is a teacher and Drew who is the Vice Principal at the school. This also gives her the opportunity to meet Marcus, a local therapist. A tragic accident happens at Allie’s school so she enlists the help of a local therapist to help counsel the students during this tragedy. Marcus is very good looking at the spark between them is immediate. She can’t act on her feelings because she hasn’t left Steve officially and she is unsure if someone like Marcus would want to jump into something with a newly separated woman.

attractive.gif

Allie has a very difficult time separating herself from Steve has he is very persistent in his attempts to get Allie back as well as his attempts to sabotage her relationship with Marcus. He stalks Allie, hires a private investigator, harasses Marcus through phone calls and  even coming to his house. Allie also gets the time to explore her newfound single life. She goes on some dates and meets some very interesting and gorgeous men. It really shows that a woman leaving her husband isn’t left to be a single mom/cat lady for the rest of her life. We are hot! We can get back out there 😉

sex it up.gif

Allie is a very intelligent woman and has more means than most women in her situation. She is able to line up a rental house for herself and her children while she is in the planning stages of leaving Steve. Most women in her situation are unable to do this as they do not have the funds. I found it surprising as a school counselor at a public school would be able to afford such things, but it doesn’t distract from the story. I did find some things very uncomfortable and I believe that they would be very triggering to a woman that has gone through a situation such as this. Steve is very psychologically abusive and although he isn’t physically abusive to her or the children the damage is just as severe. I spent some time during and after college working at a domestic violence center in a town near my home. I spent a lot of time working with women going through very similar situations as this but sadly most do not have the means to leave their husbands nor are they able to break the abusive cycles they experience with their husbands or partners. There are a few situations Allie experiences with Steve that made me particularly uncomfortable. One visit she has at her old house with Steve he attempts to rape her in hopes that she will come back to him as well as an attempt to put her down and undermine her efforts. There is another situation that he blackmails her into having sex with him in order to sign the separation papers and come upon an agreement for visitation with the children. These situations could be very triggering to someone that potentially has PTSD from living through a horrible situation such as this.

bastard.gif

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I think that there are a lot of things that happen behind closed doors in the homes of abused women that the overall population doesn’t realize. This book is meant to be light and romantic but it also brings a lot of light to these situations. Allie is a very strong and intelligent woman and I really enjoyed reading her story. I fell in love with the men she fell in love with and constantly rooted against the evil Steve. There are some very steamy scenes in this book that had me glued to the pages waiting to see what would happen next. Plus the end, #swoon, to die for. I really loved how it turned out and I felt that all loose ends were tied. I would definitely recommend this book!

**I was given a copy of this book from the author but was under no requirement to leave a review. These are my honest thoughts on the book and I truly appreciate Treena Wynes for giving me the opportunity to read her wonderful book.**

Getting foxy in The Vixen’s Lead

For a long while most of my ‘reading’ was done during my over 1 hour commute to work, as well as at work, and my 1 hour commute back home. No I don’t have a magical ability to read and drive (I wish!), I was listening to audiobooks. With a young toddler and living an hour away from my work I didn’t have time to sit down with a book or my kindle. Now I find myself mostly actually reading books versus listening to them. I live in the same town I work in so no more commute, I read during breaks at work, in the bath, and every night before bed. I’ve wanted to get back into listening to audiobooks but with my newest promotion I’ve been more concentrated on training and really focusing on what I’m doing to listen. Just recently I have gotten back into listening during work and I have to stop more than I used to for phone calls or to concentrate on something but I was able to finish a really good book. Let’s get into The Vixen’s Lead by Tate James, something I believe everyone will enjoy 🙂

Vixen's Lead.jpg

Find it here on Amazon/Audible!

I have previously read a series that Tate James wrote with C M Stunich that I LOVED, the Hijinks Harem series (find my review here!). I was very eager to start this book because of this. It just took me awhile because like I said I was listening to it off and on via Audible. When I start something as an audiobook I find it difficult to go back and forth between listening and reading, if I’m hearing the narrator do voices I just find it hard to recreate them in my head and I feel it takes away from the story. I know, I’m weird. I’m also a very fast burn kinda girl. There are a lot of medium burns I like but I really dig the fast burn. This book is not quite a fast burn but there is definitely swoon.

can't hear.gif

Kit Davenport goes to high school with her best friend Lucy but they are slightly different than your typical high school student. These ladies are thieves. Kit runs the jobs getting the item while Lucy is a hacker that helps shut down surveillance. They are the perfect team. With every theft Kit leaves one item, a tiny fox, as a message to her not-so-innocent victims. Running jobs at night and waking up for class every morning isn’t for the weak of heart. Kit’s upbringing wasn’t exactly nice, she dealt with a lot of horribleness before she got to where she is now.

rob.gif

Her life gets a little shaken up when two new guys start at her school. Caleb and Austin are both super hot and super different. Caleb is adorable, flirty, dirty, and hilarious. He makes me feel super swoony and my high school self would be putty in his hands. Austin is a complete asshole. He is arrogant, rude, condescending, and petulant. If you have read any of my past blog posts I am sure you know how I feel, I’m obviously team Austin. My love of assholes is deep and dirty (pun intended *snort*). Austin does a good job of generally pissing me off throughout the whole book though. I had myself seriously wondering if he was ever going to lay off and I was dying for a brother fight. I mean seriously Caleb, shut that shit down.

bad boyz.gif

Kit and Caleb have this adorable friendship/kind of relationship. They watch movies together, hang out, text uber adorable things, and he has a habit of just busting into her room. The both seem under the impression that they are each being friend-zoned but continue the playful flirty banter. He also calls her ‘Kitty Kat’ which is just so fucking adorable I get all swoony thinking about it. Something that threw me off about the audiobook is that there are two separate narrators. There is a female voice for Kit and the female characters and a male voice for the male characters. It kinda threw me off at the beginning and was kinda hard to get used to. I haven’t dealt with this a lot so I was a little thrown. In the last Twilight book when they switch to Jacob’s POV the narrators switch but his POV section is all the male narrator for all voices. This switching back and forth throughout the entire story was interesting and after I got used to it I really started to appreciate it. It made it flow differently but in a good way.

friends.gif

Little does Kit know she is about to be had. Caleb, Austin, as well as some different men that have subtly been appearing in her life are part of a group called Omega. Caleb and Austin were placed in Kit’s high school to gather information about The Fox, aka Kit. One night while Kit is in her room some men come in, knock her out, and attempt to abduct her. Lucky for her she is being monitored by the Omega Group as they already suspect she is The Fox so they jump in and save her. Although she has been taken from one group to another she is definitely in better shape. The Omega Group are overall good guys, even though they are there to catch her, whereas this mystery group trying to take her are definitely not good guys.

true

Up until have half way through I was classifying this book at a slow burn. I even messaged a friend I knew had read the series and was like ‘okay when is shit going to get hot?! I need some swoon!’. I wasn’t planning to drop out but she indicated that it was going to get hot and I would love it. She was right, as the book progressed and Kit began working with The Omega Group and living with Caleb, Cole, River, Westley, and even Austin shit starts getting pretty sexy/swoony. Her relationships start to deepen with some of the men and they have some very very hot moments. We know about Caleb and Austin and really get to know the other guys. Cole is a tough guy and they have some sexy work out moments. River is the leader and British, swoon, who doesn’t love an accent. Westley is the geeky shy type that we all love. I just want to cuddle him. & rip his shirt off. All their shirts. I want them all off 😉😏

kissing.gif

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to start the next one, I’ve already used this month’s credit to get book #2! Kit is very funny and fiercely independent. Her upbringing was absolutely heartbreaking but it made her that much stronger. We also get some paranormal elements in Kit. She is able to heal quickly and can move very fast. She doesn’t know anything about her parent’s though and it seems that this mysterious group that attempted to abduct her may have something to do with her paranormal features. I really enjoyed the story and action in this book. It has a very strong plot and the story carries very well. I know, surprisingly everything can’t be about swoon. It definitely isn’t lacking in swoon but it isn’t totally romance focused. I would definitely recommend!

Where is the love? Signs of Cupidity.

I have been reading some dark stuff lately so I figured I needed an upper. I have heard a lot of awesome things about this book and it definitely lived up to it. It’s not only super swoony but also hilarious. Plus, I mean who doesn’t love cupid ❤

Signs of Cupidity.jpg

Find it here on Amazon!

So we have Emelle who is a Cupid. That’s right. A cupid. Imagine me reading this book with a song on constant replay in my heard. Yup you guessed it, Mandy Moore singing Stupid Cupid in The Princess Diaries. I literally just kept replaying it in my head, luckily I like that song… Emelle lives in this in-between place called ‘The Veil’ and can’t be seen or heard. (Yes, similar to a lot of books I read… I didn’t completely move on from my norm!) Kinda like a ghost just a hell of a lot more cheerful. Or at least she used to be. Being a Cupid has made Emelle very very jaded when it comes to love. She works her ass off as a cupid only to see these relationships she has but her love, sweat, and tears into fall apart in front of her eyes. Not only does this make being a cupid difficult but she also has to live her life, er afterlife, as a constant observer. Where is the love for Emelle?! Can you imagine watching being fall in love and get down and dirty only to live such a lonely existence? I couldn’t deal.

stupid cupid.gif

Emelle’s jadedness gets the better of her and she sometimes goes off the books. Splits up couples who’s partners are cheating on them, giving the third wheel a helping hand, starting orgies in the street… You know, cupid stuff 😊 Well her cupid-misbehavior gets her called in to see her superiors. The head cupids if you will. Terrified she is going to get reprimanded again or worse, fired. Aka poofed from existence. No more cupid for her, no more anything. The only upside is that she gets to spend some time with some people that can see her. Other cupids! It’s very short lived though because as soon as she is called back she is given some very suprising news. She isn’t getting poofed (whew!) she is instead getting transferred from the human realm to the fae realm. Nice!

elf.gif

Emelle is super stoked about her last chance kind of promotion. Finally a new start and she is convinced she is going to start the love of the century. Especially when she sees that the prince has recently gone into an arranged marriage. Nothing like a cupid to add some love in a forced relationship! Well unfortunately men will be men… errr the prince is a douche… (sorry, feminist slip 😉). Everything seems great, it looks like the prince and future princess Soora are a match made in heaven. Until Emelle notices he has a thing for banging every freaking woman in the castle. Ugh. What a fucking pig. Emelle witnesses her hard work fail again as the prince continues to think with the wrong head and Princess Soora learns of his misdeeds and spends her nights crying herself to sleep. Love sucks. Emelle unleashes her fury by repeatedly shooting the prince in the heart with her cupid arrows over and over and over and over. So much so that the normal reaction of love doesn’t just happen, there is so much that he realizes something is up. The prince isn’t a human, he is a fae so he recognizes the magic happening and shoots some magic himself. Smack dab into Emelle causing her to become corporeal!

cupid.gif

Emelle has to make a fast escape which is rather difficult as she has never walked, ran, or flew before. She has been in that in-between ghost like level so she just kinda floated everywhere. Well running is hard. I mean my ass has been corporeal for 27 and I still can’t run. She has to escape though and fast, an attack on the prince is no laughing matter. Her leap out the window leads to a really long fall, a really loooong fall. Plus with a lot of pain because holy shit pain must hurt when you haven’t felt anything in 50 years. Lucky for Emelle she falls right onto an island of some really really hot fae. 3 really hot fae to be exact. Fae that are super hot but don’t trust her, shoot her in the wing, and tie her up calling her a demon. What kind of demon would be this beautiful, have pink hair, and fluffy red wings?! So much for this cupid finally getting love…

cupidity.gif

I love this book so much. It was really hilarious and unique. Plus once we get on the island with the guys shit gets swoonier. Ronak (who I totally picture looking like Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones 😍), Evert (bearded Liam Hemsworth), and Sylred (obvi Charlie Hunnam) are completely hot, infuriating, sweet, and annoying. Pretty much an amazing combo right?! Seeing Emelle try to deal with having a real life and trying to convince the guys she isn’t a demon even though she has red wings is hilarious. I really enjoyed this book and have already jumped into the second one which is also suuuuper good. Well what are you waiting for? Do you need to be shot with an arrow? Swoon with me! ❤

If these three aren’t enough to make you wanna jump into this book I don’t know what will…. 😊❤

Hoodwinked is amazing, can I have book #2 now?!

Another book that has sit in my TBR list for far too long! It has a gorgeous cover, intriguing blurb, but I still would skip over it? Why?! Because I download far too many books and get easily distracted. I finished the Hell Hounds Harem series and felt lost again for the billionth time in my life. #bookhangover I got in the bath and tried to decide what to start, Hoodwinked it is! Read it in one damn sitting. Holy shit it’s good. Are you ready to get into it?

Gwen Taylor works for a special police force-like agency called Paraoffice. This agency was developed when all the paranormal species showed their true natures to humans, they monitor their existence with humans and stop violence that sometimes ensues. Gwen is a human but an ultimate badass. She is able to kick some major paranormal ass and shows that immediately when a vampire is attacking two humans. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this. I’ve never really been into stories about police officers, military, government agencies, etc. Just not my jam. Also I love paranormal species. If paranormals come out and start integrating in every day life I don’t want to be saved. I want to be swooned. The vampires won’t kill me, they’ll fall in love with me obvi. Haven’t you picked up a romance novel or watched a tv show you uncultured swine?!

outta the coffin.gif

Gwen is so my soulsister. She loves sweets – check, she is not a morning person – check, she has a cat – check, she loves tattoos & has a weakness for them on men – check, and she has a sassy attitude – double check. She is such a likable character. She takes no shit from anyone and that is definitely my kinda girl. The story starts getting really good when they sexy men appear at her agency. Barrett, Donovan, Draven, and Ethane are smoking hot and all seemed very intrigued by our girl. They work for Paraoffice and have run into a problem down in Florida, kids are being stolen from their bedrooms and a pentagram is being left behind. How fucking horrifying. They have had other paranormals to check out the rooms and can’t figure out what is happening to the kids. Gwen is the best at what she does so they have enlisted her help. Obvi she takes the job because who wouldn’t jump at the chance to run off to Florida with these guys, also the kids obviously… Definitely because of the kids.

let's go.gif

We land in Florida and get straight to work. Straight to work falling for these smoking guys. Plus, Gwen runs into a little trouble. Trouble of the demonic kind. Gwen is suddenly unrecognizable to herself and has an inner visitor that she can’t seem to get rid of. What on Earth is she to do when she has become something she spends her days fighting against? Will these guys still want her if she has turned into something completely different? Will you be swooning? I’ll answer the last one for you, yes you will definitely be swooning

How do you find books & Julia Swoons is a Book Whore

I feel like everytime I finish a book series and go through the inevitable book hangover I have trouble figuring out what to read next. I always have a huuuuge list of book in my Kindle library and TBR list but I always think in my head, ‘God, nothing is EVER going to be that good.” Then I inevitably find another AMAZING book. There are just some really awesome ones out there. It’s made me question myself… Am I a book whore? OR am I just really good at finding good books?!

book feels.gif

When I am looking for the next AMAZING book to read I feel like I need to go to my favorite Facebook groups and make a post so I can get the scoop on the current HOTTEST books out there. As you have probably can tell I am really into fast burns. I do have quite a few medium burns I love but most of the time I’m like ‘HEY! LET’S GET TO THE BUSINESS!’ It’s why I had to get out of the YA book game. I would read and read these amazing books but still feel like well that was good and all but I really wanted more love. I want books to be 90% swoon and 10% story/action. Books like Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, Premontion series, etc are AMAZING books. Seriously, I love these freaking books but I always felt they were tame. There were plenty of parts where I’m creepily giggling at my desk at work and biting my lip like I’m the adorable MC but I still felt like I couldn’t deal with all the fade to black scenes. Thus moving onto romance and eventually reverse harem because what is not to love about a TON of guys. Srsly.

But back to the posibility of me being a book whore. I love a lot of the books I find. Like really love them. Some are okay and I’m fine with dropping off and not reading more of the series but most I fall desperately in love with. I honestly think I have been really good at finding some really amazing authors. This has a lot to do with my Facebook group stalkdom (new word) and befriending a lot of the authors in the genre. It’s probably my favorite part. I get to be all fangirly and feel like I’m actually part of something great. It’s amazing to talk to someone who wrote something truly remarkable that you love to pieces.

Sooooooo the question is how do you all find your favorite books? Do you scour Goodreads? Do you question Facebook groups? Do you go with Amazon recs? Let me know!
