Falling asleep to falling in love… Illusion of Escape.

I just finished an amazing book. Truly amazing. The type of book that when you are finished you are still reeling from the world you have just exited. Please come back… I need more. Are you ready to swoon with me?

Find it here on Amazon!

I had this book in my Kindle library for a while, the premise looked really good but I hadn’t heard much about it and I’m honestly just not into witches as main characters. I have no idea as I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan as you may know. Maybe that’s why. The only witches I have room in my heart for learned their magic at Hogwarts. Well this book has me questioning everything I have decided about witches. In this book they are all mages vs witches but same idea. Magic is the key.

So we have Mori, a single woman with a cat named Trash. Sounds pretty typical. Cue sexy men to sweep her off her feet. Well not so fast. Mori has truly disturbing dreams almost every night where she is transported to a dungeon and tortured. She never experiences the torture though, just the aftermath as she lays in the cell in absolute pain. Still typical stuff, right? Snort. She has become used to these dreams living them as her new normal. Go to sleep and suffer immense pain, get up, go to work, come home, repeat. What a wonderful life….

Mori’s lonely existence in her dreams suddenly changes one night. As she lays there in complete pain but continuing her sarcastic banter to the unknown torturers of her nightmares someone appears. She can’t see him but she can hear him. She can feel him as he helps tend to her wounds. This darker stranger draws her out of her spell, dredging up the painful experiences she is currently experiencing in her life and her job. She jokingly deems him her dream therapist believing she has conjured him up herself in her time of need. For weeks she grew closer to this mysterious dream man of her imagination, truly worried that she was losing her mind.

A horrid turn of events in her real life lead to her losing her job. A potential donor for her job sexually assaults her and to avoid bad publicity she is put on probation. A true indication of the actual climate we live it.. BUT I digress… #metoo

Her world is flipped upside down when the one part of her life that she loves more than anything (besides her cat Trash) is taken away from her. She has no idea what to do with herself. Work was her whole life. What else does she have? Well, her troubles soon turn into something else entirely when she is abducted by a group of three deliciously sexy men. These men shake up her world a bit more by revealing to her that her dream man is real. She, like them, is a mage and she has been interacting with their lost friend, Walker. She is their only hope of finding him and as she has not only grown attached to the man in her dreams but knows the daily pain he suffers she can’t help but oblige in helping them.

Mori with the help of the super seductive Remi, the sexy intelligent Levi, and Kai the asshole who you can’t help but fall in love with search endlessly for Walker. Mori’s relationship with the guys grow as they teach her how to channel her powers and she learns who she is as a person without her job. Her life is flipped upside down in the most magical way that will have you begging to find yourself in a dream torture chamber and tied to these mages. Well… maybe not that far but seriously. Its hot.

I loved this book a whole freaking lot. Mid book I literally felt the need to scream it from the rooftops I was so enamored with Mori and her men. The whole book made me completely swoony and smiling like an idiot. The end left me with whiplash and yelling what the everloving fuck as I laid in the bath trying to put my world back together. Lucky for me the 2nd book just came out so I don’t have to wait to jump back in to this wonderfully magic world. On that note…..
